Your Take: Delta Shuttle

Whether you live in Boston, New York or Washington, chances are you’ve flown on The Delta Shuttle. If you’ve flown recently, I’m sure you’ve noticed a few changes including a conversion to two-class aircraft and the introduction of the Embraer E-175 on all services between NY- LaGuardia and Washington – Reagan. As much as those things have changed, one key element of the shuttle experience has not… easy to remember and very convenient hourly departures.

And if you’re starting or ending your Shuttle journey in New York, you can enjoy the uncrowded, uncomplicated Marine Air Terminal where all Boston and Washington shuttle flights arrive and depart from.

If you’ve traveled with us on The Shuttle, how’d we do? Why do you “Shuttle”? What is it about the Shuttle that’s valuable to you? Convenient schedules? The convenient location of our shuttle gates? Services offered? PowerStop at LaGuardia? The ability to buy your Shuttle ticket at one of our ticketing kiosks? What should we consider to make it better or faster for you?

Mod Blog: July Updates

Well its been a little while since our last update. So I’ll start off with some quick facts:

- Our Mainline In-Svc fleet now stands at 759 active aircraft (inclusive of the flying freighters).
- Wi-Fi: 203 A/C
- Winglets: 146 with Blended Winglets

All three of the remaining 76D Flat Bed Mods are in work. Ships 1804,1805, 1807, and 1809 are all currently flying active routes to/from LHR.

We finished up our 777ER +3 Y/C mod at the end of June to bring up the Y/C capacity to 221 pax.

The Soft Goods upgrade to our red-tail fleet is well on track with 30 A/C completed and 52 more A/C with partials. When the summer schedule ramps down, we’ll begin a greater push to have the entire fleet modified quicker.

Lastly, paint-wise, as of July 16, Delta had 262 aircraft painted in the new livery. Broken down to 171 pre-merger DL aircraft and 91 pre-merger NW aircraft.

Mod Blog: Lie Flat Seats, Winglets

Hello from HKG. Weather here is hot and humid but Ships 1807 and 1809 are in full swing on the Lie Flat mod. It’s been some time since our last update so we have some catching up to do.

All 10 wingletted 767-300ERs are flying – seven of which are our 76T aircraft (12+ Hour flights with Main Deck crew rests). We’ll begin production on additional aircraft in the spring when our heavy maintenance line picks back up.

Delta now has 143 aircraft outfitted with winglets, 95 of which are the APB Blended winglet type. (This includes pre-merger NW aircraft).

On the 777-side, DL now has an homogenized fleet of 777-200LR aircraft as ships 7101 and 7102 were modified to add two incremental BusinessElite seats bringing the passenger count to 45 up front.

Additionally, we have begun modification of our 777-200ER fleet to add three Economy seats by door 3. Currently three of these aircraft are flying (Ships 7003, 7007, 7008).

Our 767-400ER modification is progressing. Pictured are two of our aircraft (1807 and 1809) stationed in Hong Kong at the HAECO facility being modified. A third aircraft is being modified in Atlanta (1805). I want to give a big prop to both Delta Base Maintenance teams and HAECO maintenance for an excellent job in support of these mods.

Lastly, all (8) pre-merger DL 757-200 ETOPS (75E) aircraft scheduled for the SATCOM install are now equipped and in-service.
