Remaking the In-flight Safety Video (Part 2)

Hello everyone!

Just a quick note to thank everyone for the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Delta’s new safety video.

No one could have anticipated the reaction or the level of interest from our customers and the media. After hitting our blog, YouTube, and FlyerTalk, the Associated Press picked up the story of “Deltalina” and the buzz began. The amount of viewers worldwide has more than doubled since our last update, now with over 800,000 views! This version is currently being rolled out to our fleet during April and May and will be completed by June 1st.

Delta Air Lines Safety Video Shoot

Filming took place in January at Delta’s World Headquarters in Atlanta. Our director and production company oversaw more than 100 people involved in the shoot, from extras to engineers, make-up teams to mechanics. And as I mentioned before, the participants in the video are real Delta employees. This saved our budget, and allowed us to feature our greatest assets - our people.

Here are a few behind the scenes images from the shoot. If you dig a little and look closely, you’ll find a sign on the wall at the hangar where we filmed. It reads, “PAINT DEPARTMENT, STAFFED BY PROUD DELTA EMPLOYEES.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Have you ever spent your whole flight trying to remember the name of a song? Worry no more. We’ll post our onboard playlists each month for you to check out, download, and give us feedback.

This month’s selections are very ‘April’… Singing in the Rain especially.

tidbits on EATS

Greetings!

In this day and age, I’m ashamed to say this is my first blog post. No worries, though, because I get to write about one of my favorite topics (yes, I need to get out more). EATS is Delta’s new onboard purchase program. Hopefully, most of you have tried at least something from the menu on our flights. If not, here’s a little about it…

EATS by Delta

EATS is an opportunity for Delta to offer a consistent, high-quality product to our Coach Class customers. The first thing we did pre-launch was talk to you about what types of food should be included and what characteristics were important. We heard you loud and clear:

1. The food must taste good

2. We want healthier options

As we review our menu items both internally and with Chef Todd English, we look at the quality of the offering to ensure that we are using the right ingredients. An example of our commitment to use high-quality, tasty ingredients is our relationship with Earthbound Farm. We use only their organic greens in our salads and menu items. We also make a number of the sauces and marinades used in Todd’s recipes from scratch in our catering kitchens. (By the way, what a fantastic chef and great guy!)

Our most popular selections on the menu are the fruit and cheese plate and our sandwiches. So far, we’ve had Chicken Caprese, Roast Beef Steak Cobb, and Chicken Parmesan Sandwiches (currently offered) onboard. I always enjoy Todd’s signature items as they are rarely mainstream dishes and provide a unique look at the chef’s personality.

My favorite of the selections we’ve had onboard so far has to be the Hummus. Todd created this dish exclusively for us, and it’s unbelievable! Check it out on the menu cover (click image for full menu). We’re talking marinated chick peas, pita chips spread with an amazing olive tapenade, carrots and celery sticks, radish wedges, and a pepperoncini pepper.

Now that I’ve finished writing this, I’m starving. Thanks for taking some time to check out our blog. Next time, I’ll have news about our beverage selection. It’s about to get a lot more interesting!

What snack items do you typically take with you on flights? Feel free to share your favorite EATS menu items as well.
