Delta Brings Back Red Coats

Did you see this morning’s USA TODAY article about our Red Coats program? “The scarlet-jacketed (elite) agents returned to New York’s JFK airport last summer and made their debut this month at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson. By summer’s end, 600 agents will be walking the concourses and gate areas of 14 airports, including LAX, Orlando and Washington’s Reagan National…” more…

Our Red Coat agents are selected and trained with exceptional technical and customer service skills to provide on-the-spot resolution of customer issues. You can spot the Red Coat team from their red coats or buttons to identify agents’ special roles on their uniforms. Atlanta alone has an 135-member Red Coat team that’s been in place since the beginning of this month.

Have you spotted a Red Coat in your airport yet? Hope you’ll say hello and give them a smile when you do!

Mobile Boarding Pass Update: Part I

Today Cincinnati and Salt Lake City join the ranks of locations where paperless boarding pass is now offered.

We’re up to 9 locations total now: Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis – Northwest only, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Memphis, New York (LaGuardia) – Delta only, Salt Lake City

Coming Soon: Chicago (Midway), New York (JFK), Orlando, San Francisco, Phoenix

While Delta continues to expand and improve (yes – we are aware of the challenges with the Delta mobile check-in product and it will be redone) our paperless boarding pass product, we’re also looking to the future for mobile.delta.com to determine what we want mobile to be here at Delta in the coming years.

I could insert some random stat about mobile growth here but as a blog reader I’m sure most of you get the importance of mobile, especially you road warriors. It’s really starting to “take off” (sorry – I couldn’t resist). It’s a fascinating area to watch blossom as the hardware/software keeps getting better with devices that have changed the market (iPhone) and those that will innovate again (Palm Pre, the next Android phone, etc).

As people find new ways to connect to each other via mobile, social media or a blend of both, we’d like to hear from you how you’d like to connect to Delta in the mobile space. Got a better idea? Then post it here!

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Accompanied by marching bands, floats, and falloons (a term that the Macy’s Parade Studio coined for a float with a balloon character on it) Delta will proudly fly through the streets of New York City tomorrow as the official airline sponsor of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! Tune in to see us on the Statue of Liberty float during NBC’s telecast around 11:20 a.m.

For our friends in New York City, the parade will start on 77th St and proceed down Central Park West to Columbus Circle, then down Broadway to Macy’s at 34th St, finishing on 7th Ave (see map here). I’ve heard the best spots to watch are at Columbus Circle and Times Square, or at Central Park West, between 66th and 77th Streets. Be sure to check out The Traveling Mamas’ tips for best viewing the parade.

In Detroit, we’re also sponsoring America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Our float, “The Good Ship Lollipop,” will be sailing down Woodward Avenue beginning at 9:20 a.m. CT. Local TV coverage on WDIV Channel 4 starts at 10 a.m if you want to check it out between bites of pumpkin pie!

Will you look for Delta at the parades this year?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Delta Sponsors World Business Forum in New York City

Jack Welch. Michael Porter. Madeleine Albright. Rudy Giuliani. Colin Powell.  John Chambers. Tony Blair. Names that all of us recognize.

Imagine powerhouse business and global leaders like these – along with many others – all under one roof in a period of two days. Imagine them sharing their insights and taking audience questions on topics like leadership, innovation, the intersection of politics and business, and the challenge of change. Imagine an event that drew 4,500 attendees from 1,400 companies and over 50 countries.

Imagination not required! We were there…and we helped make it happen. Delta Air Lines was once again proud to sponsor the 2008 edition of the World Business Forum, which was held last week in New York City.  Seeing the Delta logo flanking the stage as some of the world’s most respected leaders offered their thoughts truly makes it exciting to be a part of this great company.

“What is it, exactly?” you might be asking. The World Business Forum is a leading international symposium for the business community, hosting one of the largest gatherings of senior executives and featuring 19 of the most important leaders from around the world. The event took place on September 23-24 at Radio City Music Hall® in New York City and presented a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the wisdom and unique perspectives of top global leaders and management icons.

Delta has been the proud sponsor of the World Business Forum for over five years. Through this sponsorship, Delta had the opportunity to host up to 50 top Corporate and Leisure accounts for the 2-day session in NYC.  As a special treat, Delta enjoyed the privilege of introducing former Mayor Rudy Giuliani on stage to almost 5,000 attendees at Radio City.

I can tell you, it’s not every day that we experience something like this. But, the idea and execution of helping to bring together thousands of business executives fits beautifully with Delta’s desire to be the airline of choice among business travelers. Please keep us in mind the next time your business plans call for air travel to one of our 290+ worldwide destinations.

As always, thanks for your support. We sincerely appreciate your business.
