New Delta Sky Club Opens at LaGuardia’s Terminal C

Hi Everyone,

It’s been an exciting year for Delta in New York, especially at LaGuardia – our new domestic hub.

We launched the largest single-carrier expansion at LaGuardia in over 40 years, adding 100 new daily flights to 26 cities. We took over Terminal C and broke ground on a 600-foot bridge that will connect Terminal C with our existing Terminal D space. Additionally, we’re once again partnering with OTG management to bring incredible food, beverages and technology into the airport.

Today, we are celebrating another milestone in our LaGuardia transformation – the opening of a new Delta Sky Club at Terminal C. This is the 54th Club in the award-winning club network and our third at LaGuardia. It is nearly 7,600 square feet and offers a full wall of windows featuring a view of the runway. Amenities include a full service bar with complimentary beverages and snacks throughout the day and Delta’s Luxury Bar program featuring premium wines, spirits and cocktails for sale; art featuring aerial landscapes of the region; personalized flight assistance; updated restrooms; satellite television and a work zone complete with complimentary Wi-Fi, cyber counters with power outlets, desktop computers, wireless printers and additional charging stations.

In addition to opening the new club in Terminal C, Delta will soon begin enlarging and renovating LaGuardia’s Terminal D South Delta Sky Club. Upon completion next spring, the club will measure more than 10,000 square feet, include a full wall of windows to provide more natural light as well as enlarged and renovated restrooms.

It’s our goal to make traveling to, through or from New York the most enjoyable experience possible for our passengers and we hope that our expansion and enhancements at LaGuardia will help us to accomplish that.

Thank You,

Gail Grimmett

Master Mixology 101: Luxurious Libations Are Landing At The Delta Sky Club

Today we’re excited to announce the Delta Sky Club’s new Luxury Bar! It has arrived in the Newark, New York (JFK and LGA), Palm Beach, Seattle and Washington, DC (DCA) Clubs and is coming soon to additional locations. The new Luxury Bar offers premium wines, champagne and spirits for purchase, plus you’ll also be able to purchase master mixologist-created specialty cocktails including “Wheels Up” and “The Take Off”

We sat down with Elayne Duke, head mixologist for Diageo Wine and Spirits, our new premium wine and spirits partner, to learn more about the creations and what inspired them.

Q: Thanks for sitting down with us, Elayne. So first things first—what exactly is a mixologist, and how did you become one?

Becoming an accomplished mixologist took years of study and practice with the legends of our craft.  Taking countless classes, reading every book about the craft and working with the finest luxury spirits have developed me as a mixologist

A mixologist is somebody who has the passion for the art of creating delicious well balanced drinks, who takes pride in his/her craft and is dedicated to delivering a premium experience.

Q: What inspired your drink creations for the Delta Sky Club?

The drink offers at the Delta Sky Clubs were inspired by the exotic destinations Delta flies, as well as the Season.

Q: What do you think will be a Club favorite and why?

With the variety of options, it is hard to choose one.  All of the cocktails designed for the Delta Sky Clubs are sure to be favorites!

Q: Customers want to know—will the Clubs still offer complimentary wines and spirits?

I know that many of you are questioning what these additional options mean for the current complimentary alcohol program, and I’m happy to tell you that it isn’t changing. Period. You will still have the complimentary alcohol options you’ve had in the past, free of charge, at all Delta Sky Clubs. The premium spirits program offers additional options for customers looking for premium alcohol during their Club experience.

Q: What else should customers know when picking out the right drink for them?

All of the cocktails and spirits offered at the Delta Sky Club are made with a luxurious portfolio of spirits including: Tequila Don Julio, Johnnie Walker, Ketel One Vodka, Bulleit Bourbon and always fresh seasonal ingredients. Customers should be adventurous when choosing their beverage and step out of their cocktail comfort zone. Travel, whether for work or pleasure, is always a bit adventurous so your choice of beverage should be as well.

In 2009, Elayne was honored by the James Beard Foundation as one of the most prominent female mixologists in the country.

More Places to ‘Power Up’ When You’re On-The-Go

Update:

We’re excited to share that installations are complete at our hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis and Minneapolis/St. Paul. Our top 3 project locations–Atlanta, Detroit and Minneapolis/St. Paul–now have 657 units installed. Overall, about 903 units or 75% of the project is complete!

Fun fact: In Atlanta, we ran more than 2 miles of conduit and more than 20 miles of wiring.

We know that with each electronic device you travel with comes an added challenge when you’re at the airport–finding a place to re-charge! That’s why beginning today and continuing through the early part of 2011 we’re excited to announce we’ll be installing a variety of re-charging options for our customers in nineteen airports across the U.S. including all seven of our domestic hubs.

Here’s what you can expect to see:

  • Two Delta re-charging stations at each passenger gate area
  • Each station features six standard 110 volt outlets and two USB ports per station
  • Recharging pads in all domestic Delta Sky Club locations designed for smartphones and mobile devices (many locations already have these—just check at the reception desk for your preferred adapter!)

Gate area re-charging stations will be installed in the following cities soon: Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York-JFK and Salt Lake City as well as Boston, Columbus, OH; Hartford, CT; Indianapolis; Los Angeles; Nashville; Norfolk, VA; Omaha, NE; Pittsburgh, Portland, OR; Seattle and St. Louis.

These updates are part of our $2 billion overall investment to improve our airport facilities, aircraft fleets and onboard services through 2013, and another great example of how we’re working to create a better airline and bring you a better travel experience!

We’re excited to hear what you think about our latest additions. What other things would be helpful while you’re at the airport?

Plug in and enjoy!
