If you’re traveling today be sure you’re on the lookout for the newly redesigned boarding pass! You’ll see it both on delta.com and at the self-service airport kiosks around the world.
Why the new design? It’s all for you! You’ll notice the design is more intuitive and easier to read, with your flight information more neatly organized. Now you can get all the boarding information you need by simply reading from left to right. Check it out:

We’d heard from many of you, as well as from our own airport employees, that finding the time you need to be at the gate was one of the most important features of the boarding pass. So, one of the major changes you’ll notice is the more prominently displayed and easier to findboarding times.
I’m sure you’ve noticed all the white space, too. We have plans for that in the months ahead! Soon be you’ll be able to use a single document for up to four flight segments – and that means no more looking for the right boarding pass on a multi-segment trip. Once those changes are made it will be easier for you to keep everything in one place, so stay tuned!
The redesigned boarding pass will be available at our ticket counters and airport gates soon. If you’re flying with us soon, please tell us what you think of the new boarding pass design. Even share a photo or comment with us on Twitter and Facebook – we’d like to hear your feedback!

I will be shocked and amazed if the gate actually gets printed instead of “See Monitors.”

The new boarding pass is NOT an improvement! All of the important information is printed in tiny print. Not everyone is 25 years old and able to read such small print.

I like it. I look forward to the multiple legs on one boarding pass.

I applaud your efforts–graphically it looks smart, but the print is too small, the passenger name should be lastname/first name, and the record locator is sidesways and tiny.

Sorry for the negativity, but I don’t get the new boarding pass at all. Why all the excess white space? From a design vantage, I understand that some white space is good, but this just seems over the top. Also, why the minuscule Delta logo? Reinforce brand identity and pride with your customers! And why not make SkyPriority more prominent to make it easier to spot for those who check boarding passes at the SkyPriority lines — not to mention the added benefit of reinforcing Delta’s commitment to its high value customers. Also, did you cut the traveler’s SkyMiles number from the boarding pass?
I agree that it was time to refresh the old boarding pass, but I’m just baffled that this was the best that Delta could come up with.

I’m a little let down because I arrived at the Mexico City (MEX) airport today for my flight to Salt Lake. I checked in online then printed my boarding pass at the kiosk. I got one of these new boarding passes. My companion checked in at the counter and i asked the agent at the counter if my boarding pass was ok (since it looked totally different from the one she printed for my companion. She said no problem at all. So I get to the security checkpoint and the officers told me I needed to go get a boarding pass. I speak spanish and told them it was in fact a boarding pass, from the kiosk, i showed them all the elements on it such as the words “boarding pass” and the date, flight, etc. They weren’t going to let me through, I insisted they check with their superiors because I wasn’t about to go back to the ticket counter after the woman at the Diamond Medallion/SP counter told me it was fine. After several minutes they let me through. I find it really poor form that you’re going to re-program your kiosk at an airport like MEX to print a new boarding pass and then when its presented to a security officer they (multiple folks) had no idea what it was.
As far as the design, everything that matters is printed too small. I vote its a major step backwards.

[...] I like this new layout and I think it will be a lot better when Delta adds the ability for multiple segments on a single boarding pass later this year. One feature you don’t see on the new design (but should actually be there – I dont [...]

The only information that passengers care about is the boarding time, the gate, and their seat. Everything else is secondary. Make the first three items large, make everything else small, and it will all come together.

As I have encountered more and more of these boarding passes, I have even more comments:
1) The use of upper and lower case letters for the passenger name has resulted in some confusing situations. If the passengers name is John Q Smith III, it prints out as Johnq Smithiii or sometimes Johnq Smith Iii.
2)the company wants us to use passenger names and acknowledge HVC status and with the old BP, the last name was in the upper left hand corner–the first place an person’s eye goes to when s/he begins to read (unless the language one of the right to left reading languages). Directly below the last name was the persons status–fast easy recognition of our customer and his/her status. Now, you need to find the last name–everyone’s first name is a different length so now you have to search.
3) The flight number is just too small! In a station where there is nearly hourly service to LGA and frequent service to the hubs, the flight number is important to getting on the right flight, especially when the gate info says to check the monitors on nearly every boarding pass.
I heard that this new boarding pass is going to eventually have info for multiple flight segments. That’s great, but maybe we can refine a few things before then.

Jared.augenstein–I agree with you that the items you identify are important. However, since gates often change, I would add flight number to your list of things many passengers care about. When the gate changes, the flight number helps us find the new gate.

Need larger print on the important passenger related items like flight numbers and times.

I can’t believe its taken this long for airlines to decide to rework boarding passes. User friendly passes appeal to many fliers like myself who don’t trust mobile boarding passes despite their apparent flexibility and environment saving properties. I can’t wait to see how competitors respond and how all of them further integrate into the world of smart phones and tablets.

I like the fact the arrival time is included and that soon all information will also be included on one sheet saving trees.

Modern. Slick. Pretty.
Huge print for airport three-letter codes. Woo woo!
Except not everyone knows what ORD or EWR or YYZ means.
So you put all the important stuff in tiny letters and numbers. Way to go, Delta!
But yeah, it sure looks pretty and slick and modern. Just not useful. Thanks anyways.
