I wanted to share some very exciting news from the Customer Experience team highlighting our ongoing interior projects. This update covers the 767-300ER New Interior Program, which I’m betting will elicit a lot of excitement from our customers and crews when the first aircraft enters service today!
And since a picture is worth a thousand words, take a look at the pics below, which illustrate just how dramatic this “extreme makeover” really is. The new interior mirrors the product we provide on our 767-400ER fleet.
The prototype 767-300ER (ship 1608) arrived in Atlanta last night and is undergoing final inspections before returning to service on the Atlanta-Manchester, UK flight later in the evening. The aircraft will also be flying from our JFK hub with rotations to Accra,, Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, Dublin, Moscow, Pisa, Venice and Zurich. You can also expect to see the aircraft flow through Seattle with flights to Beijing and Osaka in the future.
The second 767-300ER is scheduled to begin its modification this weekend and the third is scheduled to begin on Aug. 15. A total of (7) 767-300ERs with new interiors, flat-bed seats and full cabin AVOD are scheduled to be in service by the end of this year, bringing the total number of flat bed-equipped aircraft to 46.
For those of you who want the ‘detailed’ details (you all know who you are)…here’s an overview of the new interior product:
BusinessElite
- 36 seats in 1 x 2 x 1 layout

- New seats are 20% wider than the cradle seats they replace
- 180º fully flat bed
- Direct aisle access
- Electronic seat controls with adjustable lumbar support

- Adjustable personal LED reading light
- Redesigned “flip-top” tray table mechanism with wide console
- 29 seats at 35” pitch in 2 x 3 x 2 layout

- Adjustable headrests
- 110v AC in-seat power + USB power
Economy
- 143 seats at 31-32” pitch in 2 x 3 x 2 layout
- “Slim-line” seats providing more personal space
- Adjustable headrests
- USB power
- Personal On Demand Entertainment
- 10.6”screens in BusinessElite (50% larger than previous screens); 7” in Economy
- 28 films (expanding to 100 films Sept. 1)
- 40 hours of HBO
- 25 hours of TV in 6 categories
- 4,100 digital songs in 14 music genres
- 15 games
- Moving map
Cabin Enhancements
- New ceilings, sidewalls and Passenger Service Units
- New LED lighting
- New lavatories

- New galleys
And as always, I’d like to extend a special thanks to the men and women of TechOps for all their hard work on this project.
Have a great weekend!

Does this include the 767-300ER that uses the route from PDX to NRT?
August 5th, 2011 at 12:47 pm
Very nice! So, when will the 747 mods begin?
August 5th, 2011 at 4:48 pm
Also, I have another question: When will ship 6818 (N624AG) enter service? Based on its ship number, I assume it will be in the 75E configuration.
Also, about that aircraft, will it enter service with AVOD or overhead video? Also, will that aircraft get the extended bins like the rest of the 75E fleet?
Also, since that aircraft was built in 1993, it will probably have the older 1980s-style passenger service units. They should at least be updated to the custom PSUs with the LED reading lights that many of the PMDL 752s have.
August 5th, 2011 at 7:01 pm
Beautiful. Will this be available for the JFK-IST route in Sept? I noticed the type of plane switches to the 767-300 line.
August 5th, 2011 at 9:16 pm
Thanks Chris! This is awesome! Agree with loti–when will we see this on PDX-NRT?
August 6th, 2011 at 10:49 am
Chris, good read, thanks. Perhaps more & frequent entries like this in the “Planes” & Onboard” categories of this blog could go a long way in keeping the aircraft upgrades “real” in the mind of the passenger and the reader of this blog. We’re always hearing about all of these improvements “being on the way”…though hardly ever see anything tangible that they are actually occurring, much less addressing the completion progress of the project. With the last entries to these two categories being in April and June respectfully, we are all hard-pressed to believe that these much needed and ballyhooed upgrades will ever come to pass. With Delta shutting down the external/independent widgetheads.net website last year, we are all now left hungry & wanting for any accurate and timely updates as to the progress of this project…or any project(s) that upgrades the fleet and then hopefully improves the customer experience onboard Delta’s aircraft. This blog did a good job in the past in keeping the reader apprized as to the progress of the installation of GoGo Internet on the fleet; so, why not the same enthusiasm as to posting regular updates as to the re-do of the 767-300ER fleet? Your comments to this question would be appreciated. For…”loti” and “764ERIntl”…am I on track here?
August 6th, 2011 at 2:47 pm
Hi Chris,
great news!
Did you know when the new cabin is used on the route AMS – SEA?
greetings
August 7th, 2011 at 9:32 am
When can we expect to see the flat-bed on DTW-GRU route?
August 9th, 2011 at 5:56 pm
Great news and agree with Loti and Efugl….when can we see the PDX-NRT route updated? For a 10+ hr flight, the business class seats are worn out and the entertainment system is hardly ‘state of the art’.
August 10th, 2011 at 4:46 am
Yippee.
When will an upgraded plane be put on the LGW – ATL route ?
BTW – economy comfort is a great option. I expect to use it for all future flights.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:06 pm
I know everyone wants to know when upgraded equipment will be flying specific routes but I don’t have that information. Your best source will continue to be delta.com. Just got to delta.com –> Planning Tools –> Flight Schedules and enter the city pairs and date you’re interested in. The information regarding aircraft type, flat beds, personal entertainment, power etc., will be displayed.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:08 pm
Daryl…I’ll be updating the blog each time an updated aircraft enters service.
764INTL…747 mods begin in in the early fall.
August 13th, 2011 at 8:05 pm
@ Chris B – too bad that HVC like PM & DM will loose all their hard earned miles 72 hrs before flight due to new MGT rules. The seats look great but how many PM & DM will ever ride in them if the go over to UA & AA due to DELTA turning it’s back on it’s highest paying customers with years of loyalty to DELTA. Such a shame that DELTA-72=NEWCOKE (remember new coke and how well that went?)!

What ever happened to the promises in this GREAT DL ad?

All just a fairy tale? Again, like that ad says – what has DELTA done to deserve my business? Send me to another airline it would seem!
August 16th, 2011 at 3:18 pm
The 767-300 from ATL to MAN is a dinosaur. When will they be updating DL64 and DL65?
August 17th, 2011 at 5:19 am
Hello Chris,
Thanks for the great update. Looking forward to the new business seats. Do these improvements result in any change (reduction) in overall seat amount per aircraft?
Thanks
August 18th, 2011 at 5:31 pm
Thanks Chris, this is great to see and keep updated on. I agree with Daryl, the updates definitely keep the upgrades and improvements “real.”
A quick question on the Economy Comfort section – When can we expect Gold and Silver medallion members to be upgraded to Economy Comfort at the gate if there is still availability? It shouldn’t be too much of technological hurdle to program, and surely necessary to compete with Economy Plus.
August 21st, 2011 at 8:52 am
I’ll have seat 19A on 767-300ER in September; does it have AVOD? Also, on an overnight flight ATL to DUB (9:30 pm – noon) when is “dinner” served? Should I eat before I board (if it won’t be served for a few hours)? Thanks, Chris, for all your helpful nfo.
August 23rd, 2011 at 1:45 pm
Chris, you do such a great job with this blog. Thank you. I have booked first for a Feb 2012 flight Mpls to Guinea through Paris. They have already assigned my seats on all flights. How will seats be reassigned if I am lucky enough to get on one of the new 767-300 planes. Could I potentially lose my first class seats?
August 24th, 2011 at 12:02 pm
I have a February flight from NRT to DTW on a 747, booked in BusinessFirst. What is the chance that the plane will be upgraded to the new flat beds by that time?
August 25th, 2011 at 4:07 pm
Hi Chris and all. Nice looking changes going on for the 75 ER’s. Too bad that many of the changes made several years ago to the domestic fleet seem to have gone off thier routes. CVG to LAX, MSP to LAX, DTW to LAX, SLC to anywhere domestic all have A319 or A320′s that are drab and lack AVOD, or even overhead and audio, much less other amenities. I am DM, and have been since the program started with 200K per year and all x-country domestic. It sure would be helpful on those 4-6 hour flights to have some level of “nice”. I am a dedicated Delta traveller, but as my business needs change I flop around between domestic and international. Seems like the only good things going on are on the ETOP’s, 777′s A330′s that service overwater. At least the domestic fleet is nearly 100% GoGo now!
August 26th, 2011 at 12:26 pm
Also, what is #13 DeltaGoldFlyer talking about?
September 4th, 2011 at 2:19 pm
Passengers seated right behind it probably won’t like it if they’re trying to sleep.
September 24th, 2011 at 1:29 pm
Hey Chris, Thanks for the useful information. How about JFK to NCE . 767-300ER , flight DL-82 , BE late April 2012.
Hoping to get a lay flat seat in Business Elite? Any chance?
October 23rd, 2011 at 3:03 pm
hey, will this be available on a flight from AMS – MSP by mid- January? I hope so. This would be great.
October 23rd, 2011 at 3:08 pm
It’ll be on a 767-300 ER, by the way.
November 2nd, 2011 at 4:26 pm

Chris, Thanks for the update and for helping to get this blog back on track. Looking forward to more updates from you on the “inside story” of the modifications. Have a great weekend!
November 29th, 2011 at 8:01 pm
I noticed that the revamped 767-300ER is now in service PDX-NRT and PDX-AMS.
I also overheard a Delta employee (ground crew) comment that he did not care at all for this new plane, I guess it will take some time to get used to, there is always some resistance to change. What caught my attention about the equipment was the beautifully long shark fins on each wing. I also took a nice photo of the plane as it departed. I have been so used to seeing the A330s at the gates for these routes for a few years. A side note, all the afternoon flights out of PDX were completely full, suggestion – how about a few more flight routes out of PDX to handle the loads, doesn’t seem like there are enough flights to justify the high price one pays to go to PDX.
December 14th, 2011 at 4:07 pm
Chris, Our flight to London next year just got changed from a 767-400 (lie-flat when booked) to a 767-300. The row config in BE is still 1-2-1, but the little symbols on the reservation no longer show “lie-flat.” Are you keeping the old recline seats in a 1-2-1 config, or is there just a mistake in the flight symbols on the web site and this is still a lie-flat flight in BE?
December 29th, 2011 at 6:31 pm
Chris, since Aug. 5th have there been any additional 763ERs converted to flat beds? I need to book my March flights to FRA and CDG and I dread flying old biz-elite seats…just about any other carrier is now better than DL on those routes out of JFK…
January 2nd, 2012 at 8:27 pm
Hello, and Happy New Year!
I’m flying on this aircraft tomorrow out of Seattle, and I’m so excited – I can’t wait to luxuriate in the new flat bed! The aircraft looks absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much Delta!
January 4th, 2012 at 1:16 pm
Hi Chris -
It appears that the aircraft layouts for the 767-300ER on Delta.com (https://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/plan_flight/aircraft_types_layout/index.jsp) do not reflect aircraft with this new Business Elite seating configuration. Neither model shows an aircraft with 9 rows of 1X2X1 seating. Also, the amenities icons shown when booking a flight on this aircraft do not reflect that it has life-flat beds (e.g. flight #141 out of Brussels today shows a Sleeper Seat instead of the Flat Bed seats). When will these items be updated?
Also, any updates on the modification program for the upcoming year? Would love to know how many planes are expected to be completed/have actually been completed… the product progress updates page has not changed in a while…
Thanks!
January 11th, 2012 at 5:19 pm
As per your original post from 2009, the new configuration was to be complete on all 747s by summer of 2011. That has ofcourse not happened. While I know it is impossible to provide specific route information, would DL be able to at the very least provide a projection of having X % of their 747 fleet reconfigured by summer of 2012? As you know the 12-13 hour flights to NRT and NGO on the 747s are in probably more need for the reconfiguration than the 7-8 hour flights on the 767. (btw on the business class menu, there is a note from your CEO which states DL has lie flat seats on all routes over 12 hours – that is not accurate on the routes to Tokyo and NGO)
January 13th, 2012 at 3:34 am
Hi all, Can you confirm the PDX-NRT route 767-300Er are the new revamped and upgraded planes? I just tried to book a flight and it still showed the old overhead screens for coach and did not state lie flat for business elite.
January 19th, 2012 at 5:01 pm
We are travelling MAN (UK) – ATL 12th April 2012. Your article states that the plane has been updgraded (767 300er but your website indicates the plane will be “old style” without AVOD. I have paid for economy comfort, will it have AVOD onboard this aircraft or is it the rubbish, outdated overhead screens? Thank you.
January 29th, 2012 at 10:28 pm
Hi All! I’m hoping to find an answer here about an upcoming trip. Hope I’m in the right place! We are looking at travel in June from JFK to Milan Italy. The Delta site shows 2 different flights that run red-eye but one is operated by Delta on a Boeing 767-400 and one is operated by Alitalia on an Airbus A330. They are exactly the same price for Business Class but leave a few hours apart. If I’m going to spend $14k for 3 of us I’d like to be sure we are in the most comfortable plane for the overnight trip. Anyone know which plane is better? Really appreciate any input!
February 1st, 2012 at 1:11 pm
Flew the new 767-300ER Business Elite seating yesterday JFK-ATL and it was *fantastic*. A flight attendant even said “Is this the coolest plane ever?!” Well done. Oh, and the food was great too.
February 1st, 2012 at 7:36 pm
TrueDMBfan,
This one is a no-brainer. Take the Delta 767-400. It has flat bed seats.
February 20th, 2012 at 4:40 am
I just heard the PDX-NRT route still has the old 767-300ER that have not been upgraded. I am flying it this next weekend. Any update on when that route will have the upgraded planes??
February 20th, 2012 at 1:17 pm
Hi Chris, I read that the 747s are getting 15.4″ screens. I looked at some of our competitors and noticed that many are installing screens larger than the 10.4″ new to the 767s. Was this taken into consideration during planning? In any case, happy to hear the positive comments from those who have already flown the revamped aircraft. Thanks and Regards
February 26th, 2012 at 9:35 am
Had my first experience with this equipment on the 2/23/2012 Flt 86 from ATL-JFK. I fly this route a lot and have noticed my 3/1/2012 flight is now 1-2-1 in BE. Yay! It is unfortunate that this 11:45-12:45 (over the past couple of years) has been changed to 1:40 or 1:35, just to save on the meals.
March 16th, 2012 at 7:20 pm
I notice flight 76w, but I check a seat map that was not there lists.
It has all personal video from JFK to MAD DL126 on May 16, 2012.
March 18th, 2012 at 7:27 pm
Does anyone know what DL is going to do with the new SEA-CDG route? The start shows the new mod planes yet the first week of April ( when I am flying) the old old seat configuration in business. Am really hoping for the upgraded plane for the long hop over. Have taken the older model PDX-NRT and it’s a long flight on older very uncomfortable seats with lack of the “modern day” amenities!!!!!!!
March 26th, 2012 at 4:51 pm
Any updates on the status of the flat bed installation for the A330-200′s?
March 26th, 2012 at 7:49 pm
Chris,
Thanks for the news! I’m flying Delta #88 from CDG-SLC, scheduled at 11:10. An Air France 380-800 schedule change forced me to switch to the Delta Flight. I love Delta but am dreading the 767-300ER for that long (though much better than coach any day of the week)? I’ll just cross my fingers that my plane is one of those scheduled by the fall. Thanks for keeping us updated.
March 27th, 2012 at 9:13 am
Chris,
On August 12 you wrote “I will be updating the blog each time an updated aircraft enters service.” There have been no more updates from you on the progess since then.
So what happened? Are we to believe that no progress has been made on the 767-300ER modifications since August? In your initial blog you indicated that 7 would be done by year-end. Now it’s almost been an entire quarter since year-end with no updates as to what’s happened.
The progress update on delta.com is a joke, as it shows that 12% of the 767-300ERs are done, which would mean only 7.
Please uphold your promise and keep us posted as to how many aircraft are done and what the schedule is for the next 3-6 months in terms of additional completion.
What started out as an excellent way to communicate Delta’s progress of the modifications has gone cold rather quickly.
May 20th, 2012 at 7:00 pm
I pretty much gave up the will to live asking questions regarding the 767-300 upgrade last year DeltaManiac.
Flew Gatwick to Atlanta in Jan on a 767-300 with no IFE, and back again from Atlanta to Manchester in April – no IFE. It was not a particularly pleasant experience – bitterly cold aircraft, no IFE, apart from unwatchable drop down TV, with an upside down picture and a crew who had no idea how to correct that – very customer friendly…not. Until Delta give some consideration to those of us crammed into a metal tube for 9 hours with a touch of decent entertainment we won’t be taking any further 9 hour flights with them, irrespective of how much cheaper than other airlines they are.
May 22nd, 2012 at 3:09 pm
I was told by the Delta DM desk that there is an actual document which reflects the projected periods in which the 767-300ER flat-bed modifications will take place. Can you post the document details or at least let me know if my December 2012 ATL-CDG flight on the 767-300ER will have the flat-beds by then?
June 8th, 2012 at 11:19 pm
Hi Chris,
When will we see the upgraded planes reach us out in Seattle who are taking the Sea-CDG flight across th pond? A lot of us want to see the upgraded planes this summer.
Thanks,
Ray
June 15th, 2012 at 5:36 pm
I agree on the west coast. I have had to suffer through several long flights with the older models and not happy. Just like a article in the Seattle papers on how the “new” DL SEAto CDG replaced really nice planes with the older east coast birds who got all the newer NW planes.
For what we pay on the west coast to fly to CDG or NRT you would think we could get some nicer birds. you think ?
July 10th, 2012 at 11:15 am
We flew SEA-KIX in late March, return mid April, economy comfort. New plane over with personal IFE was fantastic, old one with overhead on the way back was just boring, seemed like a much longer flight. That route is now all the old planes, so I won’t be flying through SEA on my next trip in October. I love the layout of this plane, but now that economy comfort is available on all planes, personal IFE has become my new requirement for anything over a couple of hours.
July 17th, 2012 at 2:25 pm
I am unsure why Delta/Chris has not responded to DeltaManic’s simple request about the status of the 763-300er new interior modifications. I have checked Delta.com and it is stating only 14% of the 763-300ers are modified. Seems like an aweful long time. Also, there has been no response as to what routes these newly modified 763-300ers are flying. I have seen posts all over the web that seem to indicate it is hit or miss, but most of these birds are flying transatlantic routes and some domestic routes. Is there no hope for those on the west coast who fly SFO to NRT – which is like an 11.5 hour flight. It would be nice to know what is happening.
July 23rd, 2012 at 3:29 pm
[...] more confirmation of this. Thankfully, such confirmation comes from Delta: as of August 2011, the 767-300ER fleet is experiencing upgrades, including entertainment on demand in the economy/coach section of the airplanes. Seatguru [...]
August 14th, 2012 at 4:12 am
Hi Chris,
Thanks for updating the blog each time an updated aircraft enters service.
At least you said you would do so on August 12th last year. No word since then. Is it true that no single 767-300ER has been updated since then?
That can’t be, DeltaManiac wrote in March the status was 12%. So there must have been an additional plane.
Let’s see, 14% in about one year. So I guess in six years from now, the 767-300ER fleet will be completed.
Chris, why are you so quiet? Is it that you are no longer with Delta?
August 21st, 2012 at 10:48 pm
Boy, there are so many negative people on here. If you don’t like Delta, then don’t fly them. Problem solved.
September 1st, 2012 at 12:13 am
Had the pleasure of flying on one of the old Delta’s 767-300 flying beer cans for 11 hours from Paris to Seattle last week. The in flight system would be great if all people in the seats in front of you were on three feet tall and had egg size heads. I had some guy in front of me that was about 6’3″ and weight about 250 pounds. Yup he was a big boy with a football size head and to make things worst he would raise is arms so I could not see the TV in front of me. How much longer before we have updated in flight systems with iPhone jacks, power for laptops an built in tv sets. Can we get Air France back to Seattle please!
September 5th, 2012 at 9:21 am
Comedian Dan Naian, don’t get your knickers in a twist.
I was merely asking Chris / Delta to follow through on his / their promise to update this site each time a 767-300ER has been modified and entered into service. The last comment from Chris was over a year ago, so obviously someone has dropped the ball. I love Delta. I only fly Delta. I am merely asking for someone (my guess is that Chris is no longer there) to respond to all of these requests and update us as promised so we can make future travel plans accordingly.
It is a simple request.
So until then, the problem is not solved.
September 12th, 2012 at 4:56 pm
Rayseattle,
It looks like you are getting your wish. Future flight schedule inquiries show flat beds on SEA-CDG, SEA-PEK and SEA-KIX. I checked on these flights for December, so I am not sure when the change will actually be made. So far SEA-NRT shows the old style seat. But progress is being made…….
September 14th, 2012 at 9:38 pm
That is great news, the 767-300 is a great work horse plane it just need a little love to bring it into this decade. I’m sure the new inflight systems will be loved by all fans of this aircraft. Now if they would provide a path to upgrade your meal from coach to business class food they might be on to something.
September 15th, 2012 at 12:41 pm
I have a question I’m hoping Someone, Anyone, can help me with as Delta Cust Serv was not…. I travel a lot and do my best to take advantage of red eye flights and typically all flights start with a non-stop between SEA and ATL. It’s been years since I flew Delta because of my last experience where I paid thousands for tickets on a Delta SEA-ATL in 1st class. I was very upset when the aircraft was a 757 that had the appearance inside of a rode hard and still wet Greyhound bus….. Worn rickety seats in first class and grumpy attendants. Since then I have seen that Delta is updating it’s fleet, but nobody within the company has been able to tell me the consistency of these upgrades and whether specific flights will have newer interiors or old blown out cabins. I’d like to give Delta a try again but am not willing to gamble two thousand dollar tickets for Greyhounds with wings! Please Help!
October 5th, 2012 at 9:46 pm
Am scheduled to fly to Madrid in Business Class on a 767-300 identified as type “76w” aircraft. Looks like one of the afore-mentioned re-configured 767-300 ER’s.?? That said, seems to be some discrepancy between lay-out according to seat guru, delta’s aircraft lay-out link and delta’s seat assignment link…. question: Is there a lav situated directly in front of seat 1-D or is it a closet (with both lavs fwd on port side of aircraft)??
October 8th, 2012 at 6:52 pm
The lav’s on the -300 lay flats are behind the business class section. All of what was restrooms in the front have been converted to closets, crew, or galley areas.
October 9th, 2012 at 12:29 am
It was great to hear that Delta Airlines is showing Seattle customers the love by giving us the upgraded planes on October27th. I would have thought I would have heard it on the blog first but the fine folks over at the Seattle Times broke that news this past Sunday. This is great news to us folks that make that Paris run from Seattle. As one person wrote if you are taking the longest flights how about some better birds to fly in. Well this is a nice start but could we get 777 next?
December 5th, 2012 at 11:31 pm
Could you give us an update on BE lie-flat upgrades to the 767-300ER fleet? It looked like there was flurry of progress in 2011, but seems to have stalled this year. Inquiring mind want to know…thanks!
December 15th, 2012 at 7:16 pm
Hello! I fly ZRH-ATL a few times a year and recently in the past month I have flown the route 3 times, each one in business.
Unfortunately, I have had a seat issue each trip and this route seems to have the oldest 767′s in Delta’s fleet. Do you have an idea of when this route will have the new lie-flat’s? I come to this thread for an answer as the customer service department does not seem to know.
Many Thanks.
Chris
December 18th, 2012 at 9:25 am
DL65 and DL64 still show as being the old style 767-300er . When will this route be upgraded?
December 19th, 2012 at 5:50 pm
Come on, Delta. Kill the blog if you’re not going to engage with your audience. But really, I’d rather just know what’s going on with the lie-flat conversion on your 767-300ER fleet. You’re losing business because of this – particularly as I start booking first/business class travel that’s 200+ days away before the end of FY2012. I don’t like KLM or Air France service as much as Delta’s, but I’ll buy a seat on them in a heartbeat to avoid getting stuck in one of those awful, dirty cradles. I know, I know…another idle threat from a frustrated customer…but come on…at least pretend to take us seriously by not completely ignoring us. Thanks!

I agree if Delta doesn’t want to answer then delete the blog, nothing more disrespectful then ignoring customers. I recently flew KLM through AMS and took an extra leg just to avoid the ATL-ZRH flight as the past 3 times I have flown this route my seat in Business has been broken to which I was offered 10k miles as a resolution. I asked for a follow-up call from customer service which was never recieved. At this point all of my Atlantic crossings will not be on Delta for 2013.

@Duane, you are thinking of the 767-400ER in the lav placement. On the newly refitted 767-300ER there are now TWO very large lavatories in front of BE, one on each side of the plane, just aft of the of the forward boarding door.

Delta needs to speed up their upgrade of the 767-300, totally embarassing that his product is still in use. Flying it on 2-21 to ZRH from ATL, not looking forward to it but the price was right. Still hoping for a last minute aircraft change.

I fly Delta quite often on long haul flights mainly to Shanghai, but will now be going to San Paulo quite often as well. On my recent flight 257 on 2/19/2013 & flight 256 on 2/21/2013 I had a bad experience. The 767-300 appeared to have a recent interior upgrade and was looking forward to the 11 hour flight. However, the exit row seat was hard as a rock! I have traveled by air all over the world and never sat in a seat that was this hard. Whoever approved this new seat could not have sat in it for more than a few minutes. Our flight was delayed about 1 hour for deicing and a mechanical problem and I was sore before we got off the ground. I love flying Delta, but I have to tell you this problem is serious enough for me to seek another airline and route to San Paulo. I just hope I don’t get the same quality of seat on my next non stop flight to Shanghai, otherwise Delta will become my last pick for international travel.
