This week I had the great pleasure to attend the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Hot Pink Party with about 20 Delta employees. This is the annual spring gala that BCRF hosts to celebrate the organization’s achievements toward finding a cure for breast cancer. It was a fabulous night and BCRF did an amazing job. From the touching presentations to the performance by the incredible Sir Elton John, it was a magical and memorable evening.
It was wonderful to attend the gala, but even more wonderful to present a check to BCRF on behalf of 70,000 Delta employees for $1 Million—double the amount we presented last year! The employees and customers of Delta really outdid themselves last October. Employees contributed personally through the purchase of pink uniform accessories and other items and our customers purchased a lot of pink lemonade! The funds raised will fund four researchers for an entire year, and through the good work of BCRF there is hope for a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime.
To further show our support, Delta announced that this summer, we will commemorate our sixth year of support for BCRF with a new signature pink plane. The Boeing 767-400 aircraft will extend Delta’s ‘pink’ message internationally by replacing an existing pink-and-white Boeing 757 that has flown primarily in North America since 2005.
Have you seen the “Pink Plane”? If so, we’d love to see your photos. Where would you like to see the new 767-400 “Pink Plane”? Tweet us @deltablog or leave you comments below.
