Happy New Year! On the Wi-Fi front, Twenty Ten is off to a great start. We’ve installed Wi-Fi on all but one of the original Delta domestic mainline aircraft as announced in our press release and are preparing to begin installation of Wi-Fi on planes that were previously Northwest aircraft beginning the week of January 17 in TPA and DTW.

Will Delta ever be putting WiFi on board international aircraft?
January 11th, 2010 at 4:48 pm
Chris,
There’s been a lot of speculation that Delta will soon be installing the new BusinessElite seats on the 777-200ERs and remaining 767-400ERs as well as adding AVOD to economy and new BE seats on the 763s. Do you have a time-frame as to when these mods will take place?
It sure would be nice to have a consistent product across all 777s and 767s.
Thanks for the info!

Time for another update. Any news about the Airbus upgrades? How about the 757-300?

When are you going to be giving the next update? How are the instlations going on the Northwest aircraft?

I’m traveling to Hawaii, Feb 26th, on a very long flight(like you don’t know)and am very suprized to find out I will not have Wi-Fi. A new update would be great and I’m crossing my fingers that the A330-300 has just gotten their installation.
Thanks for any new info you can provide.

Aloha Chris!
I was wondering if there were any new updates coming in the way of Delta’s planes… I miss these updates! Like the pictures of new aircraft, updates on the painting, etc. I don’t care much for the other stuff that’s been placed on this blog lately (like travel tips, sports personality updates and the like), although some of the historical posts have been fun.
I would love to see more plane and operations based posts here, because it’s what keeps me coming back, and as you can see, I’ve been disappointed so far…
Hope your having a great day! Aloha!

@tracyj
Unfortunately, all flights to hawaii won’t have Wi-Fi available, at least not over the ocean. As far as I’ve heard, Delta is concentrating on outfitting their domestic fleet with GoGo, so the long-haul fleet, including the A330′s, won’t be getting the retrofit. The Wi-Fi system being used by Delta (and all other domestic carriers) is ground-signal based, and since most of your journey to Hawaii will be over the ocean, it would not be feasible to install that kind of system that will only be used 1/2 the time, at the most.
I must say, though, when you come over here to Hawaii, just take the time to rest and relax- because you will have a great time with us =D
Aloha!

Every time I see one of these updates (which I eagerly await), I wonder what “A/C” stands for. I still have not figured it out. Can you clue us in? It may seem obvious to you, but it’s not to me.

Chris,
I was on DL1254 today (2/22) and as a Mad Dog, I knew there was going to be wifi. Upon walking to where the ‘WiFi onboard’ sticker is, there was no sticker there. But the plane was equipped with wifi and working well. My 3rd flight with it. I was on N920DE.

@BF “a/c” means aircraft.
Have they made any updates that we know of on which a/c they have added? I will be flying from atl to phx in march on 753.

@BF
I would say that “A/C” stands for “aircraft”.
It seemed pretty much obvious to me but nevertheless I understand you.
I, for myself, being a non-English speaker, once wondered what “readjust” means because I read it as “read-just”

Recently enjoyed wifi onboard DL61 from LAX to ATL.
Thus I was able to read an e-mail that made me happy because it was about a very positive job-related change.
Thanks Delta for enabling me to get to know about it while up in the air.
