I think it would be a far better idea to have it as an option just like the trip insurance. you check a box next to carbon offsets and voila, that's it. proceed to purchase. As a Silver Medallion Delta member, I know about the Pay with Miles program - but it is far short of the quality of the NWA one. With the Cash & Miles, a flyer can EARN miles for the revenue part of the trip. Then, you can use all the miles you want to get the seats for the way back. Once you use any Pay with Miles, you loose all ability to earn miles. As all forms of revenue should be looked at in this challenging market, I hope Delta looks at the profitability of the NWA program before it is just dropped for Pay with Miles!
