Hello everyone…I hope you all had a great weekend and traveled somewhere fun (on Delta, of course!) and that your week is going well. I did some traveling myself over the long weekend (ATL-DUS-NUE-IBZ-VLC-JFK-DCA-ATL). Germany and Spain top my list of favorite European destinations and I can’t wait to go back…but let’s get into the inflight Wi-Fi update…
The Wi-Fi installation on the 767-300 prototype (ship 138) is nearing completion and the test flight is currently scheduled for July 13. Cool factoid…aside from military aircraft (i.e. Air Force One) this will be the largest aircraft (in terms of actual size and passenger count) in the world to be equipped with broadband in-flight Internet access.
Some late-breaking and exciting news is the decision to install Wi-Fi on the (17) 757-200 ETOPS birds. These aircraft will begin flying more transcontinental routes between JFK and the West Coast this fall.
Engineering teams have completed more than 60% of the pre-merger Delta mainline domestic fleet and we expect to have 200 aircraft flying with Wi-Fi by the end of the week. The total as of July 8th is 195.

Looks like no WiFi on my ATL-HNL 747 in September.

Chris – great news on continued WiFi roll-out.
Random question – if possible, is there a way to get a list of CDs on the AVOD birds, can narrow down the category if needed.
Thanks,
-Gus

How many of the Delta 757s will be done. I know Delta has around 131 birds but I know that some of them are used for trans-Atlantic flights.
thanks,

The category is “Chill” I believe – it has the Tiesto – In Search of Sunrise CD in it. My favorite category by far!!
Thanks again,

I was excited when I flew from LAX to SLC on a 757. WiFi noted in the seatback. I could actually get some work done.
WiFi was not working according to the flight attendant. At least the inseat power was working.

Love the Wi-Fi.. had my first experience from CMH-ATL on an MD-88, and it was fantastic (even though a 1:20 flight doesn’t give a lot of time to play around)!
Now… please… I beg of you.. are there ANY plans to upgrade the IFE on the standard transatlantic 767-300 fleet? I just flew back in Y CDG-CVG on Saturday, and the fluttering overheads just make a tear come to the eye, and made me wish I was on a 757-200 (LiveTV) or 777.
Don’t get me wrong… you guys ROCK! Making all those hours go by a little quicker every trip.

Is there a good estimate until how long the whole delta fleet has Wi-Fi?

Just want to let you know I was on a 757-200 flight from DC to PHX on the first of July and it was such an awesome flight. The flight I came over on didn’t have the in-seat video screen or other options. Alas (despite what the flight crew announced) there was no in-flight Internet yet (even though the attendents said there was, no wireless network showed up on my laptop to connect to).
Which brings me to my question: is there anyway to know what the tail number for the aircraft is prior to flying out? I couldn’t find that information anywhere in the online booking system. I called Customer Service and they were eventually able to find out for me, but it wasn’t easy?
While it is a little over the top, if I have some flexibility in my departure times (which I often do) I would choose a flight that has Internet as an option.

randy.cravens…I agree with you that our 767-300ERs need in-seat IFE. We’ve been looking at a scope of work for some time that would upgrade the entertainment system in Y/C on these birds but given the challenging economic environment, those plans have been pushed back a bit.
