Hello everyone!
My last post on our in-flight entertainment offering was this time last year, so I figured it was time for an update as we prepare to kick off the summer travel season… oh and I’d like to ask you to participate in a quick survey.
Delta currently offers AVOD (Audio Video On Demand) in all classes of service on the following planes:
(32) A330s
(7) 737-700s
(28) 737-800s
(65) 757-200s
(15) 767-300s (domestic aircraft)
(15) 767-400ERs
(8) 777-200ERs
(8) 777-200LRs
That’s a total of 177 nose-to-tail AVOD.
And we offer AVOD in BusinessElite on the following planes:
(16) 747-400s
(57) 767-300ERs (international aircraft BusinessElite only)
We’re still not done… soon you’ll see the product on even more aircraft and routes. All of Delta’s scheduled new Boeing deliveries in 2009 and 2010 will feature AVOD in both classes of service. Plus we’ll add Delta on Demand to the remaining (6) 767-400ER aircraft in our fleet over the next three months.
Let us – and the world – know what you think about Delta’s in-flight entertainment! Click here to take part in a quick survey.
The 2009 World Airline Entertainment Survey is a partnership project between SKYTRAX RESEARCH and the WAEA (World Airline Entertainment Association).
Looking forward to reading your comments and responding to your questions.

I noticed that not all flights have TV on them even if they have an AVOD unit. Will TV be added to those planes with no TV but with a AVOD unit?
May 20th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
HWGeek…live TV is offered on domestic aircraft only…so that would be the 737s, 757-200s (non-ETOPS) and 767-300s. DISH Sat TV is only available while flying over the continental US.
May 20th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
Chris…do you all have a month or date of when the first 767-400ER with the new lie-flat seats will come out. I am flying July 7 DTW to LHR on a Delta operated 767-4…it was originally the 1-2-1 configuration but recently changed to the 2-2-2 configuration. Is there some sort of delay? Thanks!
May 20th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
As some who flies on a lot of the ex-NWA fleet, I hope that AVOD is planned for the A319/320s and NWA 757s. That plus the Delta interiors would be a massive improvement.
Also, is there a plan to add AVOD to the 747s to have a consistent product on the international fleet?
May 20th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
uoflfan14…the first 767-400ER (or 76D as we call it internally) started flying last weekend. I’ll see if I can find out the schedule for 7/7…currently it’s showing a standard 767-400ER with the cradle seat in BE.
May 20th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
You have 32 A330s from Northwest, not 31 as reported above.
Also, the NW TATL 757s (75A) have digi players (AVOD) in World Business Class (aka BusinessElite).
May 20th, 2009 at 5:19 pm
Chris I was on a flight from JFK to SFO flight 717, didn’t have the TV service on the 13th of May. not sure what aircraft it was though but I am guessing by what you said it might of had an international leg.
May 20th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Chris…so your saying that they are showing 2 – 2 – 2 configuration for the 76Ds right now? And that schedule would be great. I would also love to see pictures of the final product…Ive googled for it everyday and its all animations. THANKS!
May 20th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Also one more thing…on Delta.com reservations its showing that flight on 7/7 (NWA 782) as Delta 767-300ER while on NWA Reservations its showing (NWA 782) as a 767-400ER and a 767-4 cradle seat map. I think there might be a reservation system error. Just wanted to Let you know.

My first post at Delta blog!
Anyways, I really like the news with AVOD on Delta aircraft, though my last trip on a A320/752 did not offer it, but that’s okay for a flight ~2 hours. Anyways, I really would like Delta to install AVOD for their 744s, because on the longer 744 flights, like DTW-NRT, it really is painful to just sit there in coach with nothing to do, except to sleep, eat, and watch movies w/o choice. For a 12-hour flight, AVOD would be much appreciated, and it would bring the aircraft more up to date with other airlines.
May 20th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
Absolutely infuriating that AVOD is not offered in Coach on the 763ER. Is there a planned AVOD install for the workhorse of the international fleet?
May 21st, 2009 at 12:50 am
Chris, what are the plans for the international 767-300 fleet? I’ve avoided booking on Delta to Europe on a few occasions because some JFK routes are flown on AVOD-less 763’s, and I’m surprised DL hasn’t outfitted these workhorses yet.
May 21st, 2009 at 1:01 am
Chris – I’m an absolute FAN of this blog and thoroughly enjoy being immersed in what Delta is doing (especially after having been a long time NWA traveler).
This July24/August8 my family is traveling R/T to ATL-(via DKR)-CPT on a 767-300ER. This nearly 18 hour trip will certainly be a record for me, and I called reservations to see if in-seat IVE would be available in economy, which they confirmed. However, based on the list posted above, that may not be true. Any insight on whether the 763 ERs going from ATL-CPT have IVE? I have the distinct feeling that we’ll be taking a gander at a big screen.
May 21st, 2009 at 10:35 am
Chris- I just was on 767-300ER for JFK-ATH and ATH-JFK this past week. Neither plane had AVOD in economy. It was really frustrating for a 10 hr flight to have to watch the movies that were selected and hard to see as the quality of the TV are pure and outdated. I am an elite member of NWA and truly enjoy the A330 because they have AVOD. I hope the plan is to install AVOD on all 767-300ER since they are used for the long haul international. Until Delta decides to put AVOD on all 767-300ER I will avoid this aircraft in the future for my international travel. Hopefully that doesn’t mean using another airline.
May 21st, 2009 at 11:58 am
Hi Chris,
I am on a flight from PDX-NRT and NRT-PDX. It is a NW Codeshare flight operated by Delta. It says we are on a 767-300ER. So I can assume that coach doesn’t have any AVOD in Economy correct? I have upgraded to business so I will assume it has the AVOD. My kids will be in Economy.
Please confirm my assumptions and if I am right when will these aircraft be upgraded or will they be replaced by the new 767-400ER?
Thanks
May 21st, 2009 at 12:38 pm
Is Delta going to be integrating the Wifi into the AVOD system by any chance?
Thanks!
David
May 21st, 2009 at 1:57 pm
Dave…thanks for catching that typo…Delta has 32 A330s. As far as the (8) 757-200s where we offer handheld AVOD players to BusinessElite customers…I chose not to include them as the product/content is not aligned with the rest of our integrated, in-seat AVOD. My hope is that we’ll pull them from international service and replace them with a/c with full-cabin AVOD sometime in the near future.
May 21st, 2009 at 1:58 pm
uoflfan…I’ll see if I can persuade my colleague who manages our seat program to post some pics of the new 76D full-flat seat.
May 21st, 2009 at 2:01 pm
wheretheworldmeets…retrofitting the 744s with in-seat AVOD in Economy isn’t likely.
May 21st, 2009 at 2:07 pm
HH and Rmahoney…I share you’re frustration regarding the lack of in-seat IFE in Y/C on our 767-300ER fleet. We have been working on a program to retrofit those aircraft since 2007, however, given the combination of skyrocketing fuel in 2008, the current global economic recession (which has hit the airline industry very hard) and the H1N1 flu, those plans have been delayed.
I assure you that installing AVOD in Economy Class and full-flat seats in BusinessElite are high priorities for Delta.
May 21st, 2009 at 2:09 pm
Chris-
Thanks for the honest and straightforward answers. When you get around to 763ER economy retrofits, that just leaves the 744s – where you have said that a retrofit “isn’t likely”. Why are they any different from the 763ER fleet – where you will get to deployment over time?
May 21st, 2009 at 2:13 pm
BrownBruno…AVOD is offered in Economy on our 767-400ER fleet but not on the 767-300ER fleet…so if it’s a -300 on that route, it will be overhead entertainment.
I did that trip in February ATL-DKR-CPT-DKR-JFK-ATL and it was by far the longest trip I’ve done…24 hours outbound and 27 hours on the way back…but the trip was awesome!
May 21st, 2009 at 2:15 pm
loti…the PDX-NRT flight is operated with a 767-300ER. AVOD is offered in the BusinessElite cabin of all our aircraft…however, it’s overhead in Economy. There are no current plans to replace that a/c with a -400ER.
May 21st, 2009 at 2:16 pm
theairlineblog…no plans to integrate the Wi-Fi into the seatback.
May 21st, 2009 at 2:28 pm
BTW… DON’T FORGET TO VOTE (for Delta, hopefully) IN THE IFE SURVEY!

There’s no question: Having AVOD is a major enhancement to my journey. I appreciate the ability to stay on top of news and business through the satellite TV programing. The movies, TV shows and audio on demand add to the enjoyment of my flight. It gives DL a tangible benefit over airlines with traditional IFE systems (or nothing at all). I am finicky enough to select DL flights that are more likely to have the AVOD systems than not, even if the fare is slightly higher (though the schedule has to work, that’s my top priority).
I do wish the AVOD screens were larger. On DL, I’ve flown the 757s and domestic 763 with AVOD. Those screens seem smaller to what I’ve experienced on Virgin America (I believe the VX video screens are around 9″). The larger screens do make a difference.
I also aprpeciate having in-seat power. I wish DL had this in Y as well as F. It’s critical for me given that I travel with a laptop and mobile phone, and sometimes an iPod as well. Having in-seat power means having one less thing to worry about when I’m making a connection.
May 21st, 2009 at 3:51 pm
Thanks Chris, So the 767-300ER is scheduled for AVOD upgrade to the economy cabin in 2010?
May 21st, 2009 at 4:05 pm
loti…the schedule has not been finalized at this point.
May 21st, 2009 at 4:13 pm
royal-jet-service…thanks for the kind words about our IFE product…it’s appreciated and it’s nice to know that AVOD really is a product differentiator for our most frequent travelers.
DL was the first carrier to roll out Panasonic’s eFX AVOD platform on the Song fleet in 2004. The 7″ screens were all that was available at that time. The decision was made to install the product on more more aircraft in 2006 and for the sake of consistency across the fleets, the standard 7″ monitor was chosen. You are correct…VX offers 9″ screens and B6 offers 6″, I believe.
However, the monitors are 9″ in Y/C on our 777-200LR fleet. We also moved to a 10.6″ monitor in BusinessElite on the -LRs and the retrofitted 767-400ERs with the new flat-bed seat.
Power…I agree, in-seat power is becoming more and more of a necessity given the proliferation of PEDs and Wi-Fi onboard. We’re actually in the process of evaluating our “power strategy” so stay tuned for more info on that subject in the near future.
May 21st, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Chris – is there an easy way to tell which 757s have AVOD? This summer I’ll be taking children on the 4.5 hour flight from Salt Lake to Orlando in one of the 757s that have 24 first class seats. We’ll be in one of the 26 first class seat models flying home, and I would rather not have to carry a portable DVD player or two that only need to be used one way.
I did book us in first class so we’ll have power for the DVD players if needed, but I naturally would prefer to not need the players…
May 21st, 2009 at 11:09 pm
Brianj…if you’re on a 757 with 16 seats (75E) or 26 seats (75X) up front, then the a/c has AVOD in both cabins. So it sounds like outbound will be on an overhead-equipped a/c and the return will feature AVOD.
Delta.com continues work on adding an indicator for all our onboard products. Phase 1 will include a Wi-Fi indicator by fleet type in June followed by additional indicators such as meal options, in-seat IFE, overhead IFE, etc.
May 22nd, 2009 at 12:25 am
Thanks for the quick reply, Chris. The website upgrade you mentioned – indicators for entertainment, wi-fi, etc. – will really be appreciated. Knowing what amenities are onboard comprise one of my two wishes for the Delta website. The other wish involves flight status – Continental’s flight status provides a link to the previous flight for your aircraft and gives a reason for delays.
The one thing I don’t understand is what entertainment is provided on the two SLC-MCO flights. When I look at daily status, 1158 and 1188 say no movie – even though the flights are over four hours long. I’ll find out in a few weeks…
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:30 am
“wheretheworldmeets…retrofitting the 744s with in-seat AVOD in Economy isn’t likely.”
I suspect that the 744s may not be around long enough to make this retrofit worthwhile – The real question is whether they will simply be parked or replaced with 777LRs or 787s at some point. I can’t wait to see what Delta decides to do with the fleet in the coming years. Esp. with the DC9s MD80s and 757s.
May 22nd, 2009 at 2:00 pm
Chris, thanks for your speedy reply! It’s nice to know that Delta is working really hard to improve service across the board, and it really does show. Anyways, as ScottC mentioned above, about how many years of useful service will the 744 have before it is replaced on the international long-haul flights, such as DTW/MSP-NRT, whether it be a 777LR or 787?
May 22nd, 2009 at 3:22 pm
wheretheworldmeets…those decisions are made way above me so unfortunately I can’t answer. The fleet strategy and network groups are always looking at what the best aircraft is for each specific route.
I do love a Boeing 747-400…probably the most elegant airliner ever built. But taking into account fuel prices and the desire for more point-to-point non-stop service, I’d guess the future will be more two-engine, more fuel-efficient wide-bodies.
Did everyone VOTE in the survey?!?

Chris –
First time post. LOVE the blog and follow it daily. I am very interested in Delta’s continuing evolution regarding the customer experience, especially now as you blend in NWA and also compete against other carriers for business across the pond.
That being said, I have an idea for improving the Y-class experience on the 767-300ERs prior to full cabin AVOD upgrades. Why not consider expanding the amount of audio channels and increasing the length of the programming loops. Of course, if the audio sytems have a physical limitation then my suggestion won’t work. But, if this hasn’t been explored and the system will allow for an increase of channels, consider what Lufthansa had done for the Y-cabin 747s. I believe they had up to 30 different audio channels for passengers to listen to. While not full AVOD, an increased selection in audio entertainment across genres (example: interviews with leading businesspeople, entertainers, audio books, lectures) can contribute to a more positive transatlantic experience for the Y-class passenger.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:59 pm
I LOVE Delta for their in-flight entertainment. LiveTV and Movies are great, but the trivia game is by far the best. Ok, so…I am a bit competetive, but there is nothing better on a long flight than taking on other people on the plane in a battle of wits
Keep up the great work Delta! It’s (usually) a joy to fly with you.
May 24th, 2009 at 5:45 am
Travelling from EDI to MCO via JFK in October. Is there delta on demand on seat backs on this flight
May 24th, 2009 at 9:47 am
I like that on Continental, the flight status shows where the aircraft came from. I would love to see that on Delta!
You guys are doing great and I’am really happy with all the improvements!
May 24th, 2009 at 11:58 pm
Hi Chris,
On June 5 2009 I am flying from JFK to Budapest on Delta flight #98. I was wondering if you could tell if this flight will provide AVOD or if there is a way I can find out what aircraft # I will be flying on, so I can find out if AVODs will be provided for Economy seating? Thank you for all this helpful information!
May 25th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
Chris,
Is Delta looking at adding more PTV/DoD to more 738s and 752s? The thing is It seems like every time I fly I end up on a 752/738 on a short trip like ATL-MCO and it has PTVs/DoD then I fly ATL-SFO and its got Drop down LCDs. I think Delta need to look into add more to its fleet. CO is adding them to all the 737NGs
May 27th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
cakdeltafan…thanks for the props…I love the interaction too!
We actually are physically limited to a set number of audio stations but we are looking at ways to improve the IFE experience in Y/C on the -ERs as an interim solution until we’re able to install in-seat IFE in those a/c.
May 27th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
Andy Borgmann…glad you’re a fan of our Trivia game. We’re actually updating all the (thousands) of questions later this summer so the challenge will continue…
May 27th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
donniebrasco…EDI-JFK operates with at 757-200 ETOPS bird which has nose-to-tail Delta on Demand. Not sure about the segment to MCO.
May 27th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
taymar2009…JFK-BUD operates with a 767-300ER which has AVOD in BusinessElite only…
May 27th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
Delta10100man…DoD will be added to all our new Boeing deliveries…we have (3) 737-700s and (2) 737-800s that will feature DoD with live TV and (2) 777-200LR deliveries that will feature Panasonic’s eX2 IFE platform.
We are well aware of what our friends in HOU are doing and are always looking at ways to improve the customer experience…adding more in-seat IFE systems to more a/c is ideal but costs BIG $$$$.
We’re also focused on improving the Y/C experience on the 767-300ERs first…before potentially adding more in-seat IFE to domestic a/c.
The domestic mainline a/c are all getting Wi-Fi.
May 27th, 2009 at 11:58 pm
Thanks for the insight, Chris! I’ve had the opportunity to play with the PTV system several times (73G, 738, 757) & really enjoy it. Getting to start the day with it was fun CMH-ATL on a 73G recently…too bad they pulled those & the 757s off the schedule. As a diehard Columbus Blue Jackets fan, it was also fun to keep track of the score of their game via ESPNEWS in-flight the night we flew CVG-MCO last December. I think one of the biggest perks of Delta’s system over US Airways’ (the only other AVOD system I’ve experienced) is having the Airshow map as an option.
A couple things came to mind reading your post:
For the 738s & 757s that still have the regular IFE systems, do those systems get repaired somewhat often? I was on a 738 last summer CVG-MCO & when they showed the Delta On Air programming, the monitor above me looked like the contrast was way out of whack. I was also on a 757 SJU-ATL in March & the wall-mounted screen in front of us was messed up throughout the flight, so watching the movie was difficult.
Also, I saw your hint about the 16 & 26 first class seat-configured 757s being a giveaway for the AVOD on domestic 757s…good to know! I’ll take note of that tip. Is there any giveaway for which 738s have the system (aside from looking for the dome on the fuselage when at the airport)?
May 28th, 2009 at 1:56 am
Thanks Chris.
Few more questions.
What is the plan for the 763s as in will they still get the new seats?
Also will the 3 new M90s get the drop down LCDs like what is in the 16 that Delta already has?
Will the 772ERs ever get the eX2?
And the last one……how about the DAL-North fleet?(NWA) what will they be getting and please tell me you guys aren’t thinking about pulling everything like they did.
May 28th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
JSprague24…we do have regular checks on all aspects of the interior…seat covers, carpet, IFE, etc. You’re right, though…some of the overhead monitors on the 737s and 757s are in need of adjustment or replacement. Our IFE MTC team is aware.
If a 737-800 is coded in delta.com as a 73H then it has AVOD.
May 28th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Not sure if this question has already been asked…but I will be flying to Nairobi in just a few weeks on Delta and am wondering if AVOD will be available for economy class, especially given that the destination is a new one for Delta. Thought?
May 30th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
Chris, while I love having AVOD on SLC-ATL and reverse every week, I would really like to see another network other than NBC. What’s the chance of getting, CBS, ABC and FOX?
But to be honest that’s really my only gripe. Look at all the fuss American made about their new 737-800’s having drop down LCDs like Delta has had for years on their 737-800’s and MD-90’s. If their fliers only knew what they could find over at Delta!
May 31st, 2009 at 12:02 pm
Chris:
We’re flyiing June 14, from FLL to SLC, then SLC to ANC. Do those planes have AVOD? Then June 28, SEA to ATL, 8:30 am, same question?
Thanks!
June 1st, 2009 at 12:00 pm
Hello Chris!
first excuse my English, I’m French !!
We’re flying June 14 from CDG to LAS (Vegas) with a stop in SLC, and the reverse is June 25
The flight between CDG and SLC is on a 767 300ER, can you tell me if the AVOD is on board in eco class?
June 1st, 2009 at 2:54 pm
^Hi sixieme-sens!
Your English is beautiful … my knowledge of French is virtually nonexistent. I’m just a poster here, so I’ll try to help out. There is no AVOD on 763ER yet on DL’s planes. As stated in above posts, DL has been forced to delay plans to retrofit 763s with AVOD, because of rising fuel prices in 2008 and the economic recession this year. I hope this helps!
June 4th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
I will be flying from Cincinnati CVG to London LWG on Nov 7th and back on Nov 12th. Delta customer service says that their will be individual screens at each seat but from what I can find online that is not true for this route. Does anyone know the correct info? Both aircraft will be a 767-300ER.
June 5th, 2009 at 11:22 am
carrerans…the 767-300ER fleet offers personal video screens with AVOD in BusinessElite only. Overhead screens are offered in the Economy cabin.
June 5th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Hey Chris i am flying LAX to JFK Then JFK to VLC on June 19th. Flight number is 198 on both flights! Change of plane as well.
Any chance of AVOD on both these flights?
Thanks!!
June 6th, 2009 at 5:04 am
Hello Chris,
I would like to ask about flight BUD-JFK. I know u already answered that Delta operates with 300ER on this route, was just wondering if there will be some change till 24 august when Im flying on route BUD-JFK (change of aircraft type or if there will be aded AVOD to the 300ER operated on this route)
Thank you for your answer
With regards
June 7th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Chris – First Post – Forgive me if this belongs in a different post or has been addressed already. What are the chances of upgrading the flight tracking system and allowing the passenger to have more control over the screen (zoom, pause, English only, etc.). I would think that an integration with Google Maps or some other source would certainly give this portion of in-flight entertainment more use. Also, along the same lines, will Delta ever tie the cockpit conversation into the audio system, similar to United? I always enjoyed that back in the days I flew United. Always DELTA, thanks for a great product!
June 9th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
Good evening and nice greetings from Germany-
Dear Chris,
I´m going to fly on Delta 024 and Delta 025 from DUS to ATL and back in August and September 2009. As far as I can see, I´ll fly on Boeing 767-300er without AVOD in Economy Class: I´m really sad about it
Perhaps, there´s a chance for me, to do an upgrade to BusinessElite
My question- could you please tell me, if it´s intented to change the Boeing 767-300er and do an “upgrade” to Airbus A330-200 or Boeing 767-300er?
I´m really looking forward to enjoy my trip with Delta
Nice greetings…
June 13th, 2009 at 12:37 am
Hey Chris,
I hope you are doing well. I will be flying from San Diego, CA to Athens, Greece in September. I have a layover in Atlanta. From what I can tell I will be flying on a 767-300ER from ATL to ATH. What type of in flight entertainment is available on this flight? Thanks and I hope you have a nice weekend.
Best regards,
John
June 14th, 2009 at 1:53 am
Hey John – I think Chris has answered this: All 767-300ERs will have big screen IFE; business class will have the AVOD. Domestic 767-300s will also have AVOD. Since your trip is to Athens, you’ll be on the non-domestic 767-300 (i.e. the ER).
June 16th, 2009 at 1:15 am
Hey chris, the delta timetable for flight 1430 LAX-MCO says that it has 73H, meaning there is AVOD. But when i check the flight status, it says theres no movie in the flight? Is the timetable wrong and is the plane a 738? BTW im leaving on July 19. Will there be AVOD on my flight??
June 18th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
Does anyone know if the ATL-CDG route is the 767-400ER and does it have AVOD in all classes. Is WiFi available on transatlantic routes?
June 23rd, 2009 at 6:21 am
Hi guys can anyone tell me if the 757’s from jfk to las Vegas have the avod and/or wifi? The in flight serv drop down shows movie but no further info
June 23rd, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Petey613: The advice given to me last month was to look at the first class portion of the seating chart for your flight. If there are four or seven rows of first class, you have AVOD. If there are six rows, you are out of luck.

Hey Chris!
Just took an AVOD flight from ATL to SEA and I was pretty excited since I haven’t been able to try the system. I have a few questions about the system for a blog I am writing up and wondering if I could ask via email?
Thanks!

Hi Chris, I am due to be flying on a delta plane from dublin to new york on a boeing 767-300er and i was wondering if it will have a personal tv on every seat (AVOD)
We were told that we would be getting one but looking at reviews i dont think so. Can you please give me some info!
Thanks,

HI!
I will be flying to Atlanta from Hawaii at the end of August on a 747. I read up at the top that the 747’s don’t have personal tvs in economy. But I was on seatguru and it said this….
“Each BusinessElite seat has in-seat personal video with audio and video onDemand (AVOD) with a touchscreen. BusinessElite passengers receive noise-canceling headphones.
To accommodate for the personal video, power boxes are located under many of the seats in economy, which greatly restricts legroom. Also, as with all touchscreens on the seatback, it can be bothersome when the person behind you is using it.”
It says “power boxes are located under many of the seats in economy”. So does that mean there are personal tvs on every seat?
I am very curious as to whether or not the aircraft will have the personal tvs as I get bored very quick and I’m not a very good flyer. Having my own tv will help the time go by faster.
Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks!

Chris….one thing only…I think it’s odd you don’t have AVOD, but only an overhead screen for international route on 767-300s. I mean, the flight is a long one and an overhead screen doesn’ t really seems to be appropriate. I’ll fly from MIL to JFK and then from nyc to Miami…..but more than 9 hours without a personal entertainment system? ……..

danaholic, the answer to your question is obvious if you take a moment to think about it.
The 747s belonged to Northwest until the merger, so they only recently became Delta property. And I know many people don’t understand this, but it takes more than an executive signing a piece of paper to put AVOD into an aircraft – it involves scheduling the aircraft out of service and doing an extensive, expensive, overhaul of the aircraft’s interior.
I fully expect that in a few years we will see AVOD on all of Delta’s widebody aircraft and most, if not all, of the 757s. But until then, if I am on an aircraft that is not equipped with AVOD, I will understand installation is not instantaneous.

Hi just a coment,
I was wondering.
As a nw employee soon to be a delta retiree,
I remember when we had ife on the 320-200 a/cs ships 3201-3250.
then we received the 3251-3275 series and the 3101 319s ships and they didn’t have any ife.
Plus we removed ifes from the 757-200 5500 and 5600 a/cs is dl thinking of reinstalling ife on these fleet types.
Thanks
Carlos

Dear Cris. B: I am excited about the new Delta, it’s truly the best american airline, specially in customer service. Just a quick question…
I am flying Business-Elite JFK-FCO Sep-24, flight D148 on a Boeing 767-400ER, configuration 2-2-2, will I find flat bed seats? AVOD ? On the way back FCO-JFK, it’s flight D169 Boeing 767-300ER also config 2-2-2. Last time I did this same flight was in 2007. What should find different this time ?
Thanks, JDVS.

Chris, I’m sure it has been answered somewhere in the past so I apologize if it is a repeat question. I’m considering taking Flight 1090 (Boeing 757)from Vegas to Atlanta on Feb 26th. The first class cabin is showing 26 seats if that helps. The Inflight Services lists “None” under inflight entertainment. How would I go about finding out if the aircraft has AVOD. I would prefer the 767 but the price is cheaper to take the 757 right now and I would like to book before prices creep up again. Thanks for the help!
