Every year, my school goes to Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City for Earth Day, where we do things like plant flowers and trees, pick up trash, and other "green" service activities. The 11th grade science classes get to go down to the boat launch next to the park and take samples of the water in the East River - wearing waders, of course! We then all have lunch and enjoy the park and the art it hosts.
