Calling all airline (and railroad) history buffs… if you are in North Carolina this year, I recommend stopping by the North Carolina Transportation Museum to see the exhibit “At Your Service”. On display are airline and railroad food, beverage and entertainment items, especially from the luxury service of post-World War II through the 1960s. Visit now through November 1, 2009.
You will see over 80 Delta objects, on loan from Delta Air Transport Heritage Museum, including our first style of serving cart, a Douglas DC-6 lounge table, a passenger oxygen overhead unit and china. We also sent 3 flight attendant uniforms and a customer service uniform. You will also see menus, china, glassware and textiles from Southern Railway, Amtrak, Piedmont Airlines and Eastern Airlines.
If you visit, please share your experience.

This shot certainly brings back the happy travel memories!
After-dinner drinks aboard a “Royal Service” DC-8 FanJet would be my guess. I’d recognize the gentleman’s miniature of Tia Maria anywhere, from ground level to thirty-five thousand feet!
