Now that I am back from my wonderful trip to the States I can tell you all about my checkin experiences.
Though I had the chance to use the kiosk in FRA I used the traditional way at the counter.
Being a SM again after a couple years it felt good to use the shorter line in front of the medallion checkin desk.
In ATL then I used the kiosk which worked easily, quickly, and reliably.
There were no hassle and it was fun to use the kiosk. I did not have to listen out to any agent calling my name. I am not sure if it really was ATL the first time or some other airport.
In ATL I simply printed out my boarding pass and then went to a baggage drop counter where the agent scanned the boarding pass, printed out the baggage tags and attached them to my baggage. There were no lines and everything went well.
Loved that!

hey!

i love the online demo! sound's like it's going to help a lot of people get used to the new kiosks! But the kiosks themselves need some more functionality.... it sucks when you check-in and the kiosk tells you "see an agent" and then you have to wait 10 minutes for an agent to be available.... i'd also like to see more kiosks at the gate areas- not only to check-in but also to change seats if they're available, and if I felt rich and wanted to upgrade to business class, be able to do it without having to wait for an agent. Here at HNL United airlines has this at Gate 9/10, but I've never seen a kiosk inside the gates area for Delta... aloha =)

Katie, I guess you'll be right.
My flight dates are 03/14 (FRA to ATL) and 03/28 (ATL to FRA) so you will have to wait a while before I can tell you which ways I will have used to check in.
I have used the kiosk once before and I think that was in Atlanta, too. I almost overheard the agent calling out my name after he had printed out the tags for my baggage because I was occupied with following the on-screen instructions (I was checking in myself and my girlfriend).
I guess it will be better this time now that I am an "experienced" second-time user ;-)

Hi HWGeek, Is that the new terminology the kids are using these days? Kios? If so, like it.

Hi Ralfinho, Thanks for your feedback! Keep us posted on what you end up deciding to use. It's likely you will be able to use one of our kiosks when checking in for your return flight from the states, but will likely need to be nostalgic on your departing flight.

Nice demo. It really seems easy to use.
I am so excited about my next flight to the States and I am curious which mode of checkin I will use.
Will I be nostalgic and go to the counter or will I use the kiosk?
