paparazzi1983… As of right now, it is impossible to implement the GoGo system on flights outside the 48 United States and part of Canada. The reason why… this system runs like how a laptop connects to a router. There are satellites on the ground that transmit the internet connection to a “router” type device on the aircraft which allows internet connection on the plane. While it would be great on international flights, it’s impossible as of right now.

I wish Delta would also implement Internet on over-the-ocean flights too. Paying $9.95 or something would fit the “heck, it’s worth the entertainment for 10 hours” reasoning. pricing it much higher will shoot you in the foot. Of course, the international flights also need more power ports then. Either that, or please get AVOD in Coach on all International flights and Over-the-ocean flights ASAP.

I do think it should be filtered. Just no offensive material allowed, and maybe limit streaming / downloading per user to allow equal access to all users. It’s just like you shouldn’t be reading a Playboy during the flight.

My question is why can’t you allow International flights to have Wi-fi I mean honestly its much needed there. I don’t mind spending $12.95 on a 15-20 hour flight as compared to a 3 hour flight. Plus in a longer flight needs more things to keep a passenger busy so they don’t die of boredom.

The Delta VPN (Virtual Private Network) is how employees access the Delta network remotely. So if we are working from home, or from 35,000 feet, and want to check our delta.com email, or use other internal applications, we use the Delta VPN.

You don’t need it to access the internet.

Chris B… can’t wait for the middle of 2009 for this to roll out across DL… really want to be doing what you’re doing (a little email work, a little Hulu.. )

A question for you, are you rolling out just on DL metal, or doing on the newly acquired NW metal at the same time?

Please answer some questions. How will a passenger access the WiFi and with what devices? What is Delta VPN? How did you watch the video?

I’m glad to hear the system is up and running. I am definately looking forward to surf the web in the air. I do, however, have a few questions:
1) Which aircraft are going to get the Wi-Fi first? (I’m assuming the MD-80′s)
2) When are we going to see the GoGo system on Northwest aircraft? (assuming DL will add Wi-Fi to NW aircraft)
3) How is the speed of the internet connection?

Sweet. Only thing left is to be able to listen to ATC traffic (like UAL Channel 9)
