Although this started out as a house building opportunity, it has transformed overnight into an opportunity to build homes, families, dreams and smiles.
During the last two days, the people of Casablanca have warmed up to us and the kids are constantly coming around the house. One of the kids has a little broken bicycle that he keeps pushing around with his legs. My teammates Tim, CK and Foush tried to fix it, but one of the parts was missing. It breaks my heart to see him and I wish I could have brought him one from home.
Today, I go back to house number 9 to put the finishing touches with exterior paint, siding and windows. We got pretty far yesterday. Our team (the Green team aka “Creating Hope” who rocked the house!!) finished the roof, interiors and siding. The back of the house was especially challenging (pic) as was hammering nails into the ceiling but we got it done!!
The homes here have two rooms and shared bathrooms. I didn’t see any kitchens so I wonder where and how they cook. Each room is slightly bigger than my office — it’s unbelievable. This experience always make me appreciate what I have. But most important, we are truly creating hope for people in Chile.
