Thanks for the idea that individuals can do more than just sit around and eat turkey during the holiday season. While it might be tempting to gorge on food and watch football until the tryptophan takes affect, the getaway idea you mentioned can also be used as a more entertaining way to have fun with the family as well.

It reminds me of the upcoming movie "Four Christmases" where each year they attempt to take a trip out of the area to avoid having to go to all four houses during Christmas. However, if the family is more traditional, then I suppose an individual could take a trip before Thanksgiving begins. I was recently assisting someone in planning a trip to Las Vegas and you would not believe the deals I found! A package deal of a round-trip ticket, tower room at Circus-Circus, and a car rental for 3 days and 2 nights came out to a little over $415. There was another hotel on the strip where had they chose that then the price would have been only $387 total. It blew my mind and it was all right before Thanksgiving.

I would love to hear more about other package deals and ideas for travel and fun during the holidays. Traditional family gatherings are great, but sometimes families should do more than eat turkey and curl up on the sofa.
