As we’re sure you’ve heard, the merger between Delta and Northwest has officially been approved!
What does this mean for you? You won’t see immediate changes in operations from Delta or Northwest as a result of the merger, so keep checking in and checking baggage as you’ve always done. It’s business as usual – full integration of the companies will be completed over the next 12-24 months.
Stay tuned here for the latest merger information direct from our employees and visit our Merger FAQs to learn more. We’ll continue to work hard to bring you a behind-the-scenes look during the integration period here on our blog.
And to our friends at NWA, a big welcome to the new Delta family!

So many aviation folks are going crazy to see the very first Delta livery of the B-744! (We know this sorta thing is not in the blog’s control). Secondly, I am wanting a thorough, well-crafted R O U T E M A P with Delta wrapping it’s “wings” around the globe and giving it huge bear-hug. Hurrrrrrrrrrry.

Congratulations Delta! And US Airways thought they could buy you out – look at the situation now! I read somewhere (I guess on one of the a.net forums) that there’s already a 744 in the paint shop – REALLY can’t wait to see that here in NYC (you MUST send it here).
Best of luck to everyone!

TriStar_Fan…you won’t have long to wait. We’ll premiere the new Fleet page with all of Northwest’s (very cool) metal in the Delta livery, along with some pretty spectacular new route maps in the January issue of Sky.
Of course we’ll post a sneak preview here on the blog before Sky is available onboard…

I hope I’m not the only customer who prays that Delta adopts the superior website that NWA has built over the years. With all respect, whenever I’ve used Delta’s site I’ve often found myself ‘rolling my eyes’ or ‘sighing’ in frustration at the Delta site’s relative lack of ‘seamless elegance’ (sorry for cheesy description, but fits!) when compared to NWA’s site – - sites if you also count NWA’s great mobile site! I’m fine with any changes except that website. Anyone agree? Anyone have news about plan?

Chris B.: You’ve answered my prayers, thanks so much.

Hello everyone! As a New Delta employee let me say it’s really nice to be welcomed by all the Delta people who have been so kind since this all started to happen a few months ago.
As for a sample of the route maps, NW has a tool similar to Delta’s interactive route map on its NWA Worldtraveler website: http://www.nwaworldtraveler.com/ME2/Default.asp
The actual onboard magazine also has an impressive route map with the Delta/NW routes but also contains all NW partner routes (CO, AS, KL, etc). Check it out!

DTWRedTail – Thank you for your kind words and for the great link!
TriStar_Fan – We’ll post the new Delta/Northwest consolidated route map here on the blog on December 1st. Stay tuned!

I am very glad to see the merger between these two airlines. I’ve always been a fan of Delta and believe it’s one of the better airlines out there (especially in comparison with United and U.S. Airways). I’m still a little curious as to how this merger will affect the great deals I receive from both Delta and Northwest Airlines in terms of perks and pricing, but I still give my kudos to this merger.

“The Best Get Better” I can’t wait to see DL 747-400′s at ATL !
I do hate to see CO leave skyteam. I fly DL/CO codeshares alot and have experienced nothing but excellent sevice in all areas and really think that would have been a better fit from a pax point of view. Change goes around with flying colors
