Here is an insider’s tip to maximizing the performance of the Awards search utility for our Medallion SkyMiles members: log in and check “I am one of these passengers” on the main search page.
Delta offers more flights in the coach cabin at each pricing level to Medallions than to the general public. In order to see these flights while you are searching, we need to know you are traveling on the itinerary. Bonus: your travel companions get the same benefit.
The checkbox only shows up if you are logged in and eligible for the benefits.
If you forget to do these things, you will still get the benefit: If a lower fare is available based on your login and passenger information, the ticket will be repriced accordingly.

It’d be nice if this benefit applied to First / BusinessElite flights, but we all know that wouldn’t happen. We can dream, can’t we?

Last time I did the on line check in, I found information about a new seat selection option. Can someone tell me exactly what effect this has on Skymile Medallion customers ability to select seats prior to the 24 hour before flight period?
To provide passengers with more opportunities for seat selection within
24 hours of departure, a limited number of Coach Seats (exit row, aisle,
window or bulkhead) have been set aside for purchase. The seat fee
varies based on the length of the flight or seat type. Once your Coach
Choice seat is confirmed, you can pay for your seat(s) by credit card
during the check-in process.
Coach Choice seats can only be purchased at the time of check-in either
at delta.com or any Delta airport kiosk. These seats are not available
for purchase through a Delta agent. Available Coach Choice seats are
free of charge to SkyMiles Medallion and passengers who are traveling on
a Y or B fare class of service.

The new seat selection process is not a benefit to Platinum members at all. I always select my emergency row isle seat at the time of purchase incase I’m not upgraded. Why am I not surprised that on my weekly flights, those are the seats that are now set aside for 24 hour check-in selection. If I don’t buy my tickets at least 3 weeks in advance, the 6 emergency seats that are not set aside (4 middle seats) are already taken. If Delta wants to make some extra money on seats, go for it. But the seats should still be available to Platinum members at the time of purchasing. Now, not only do I have to wait to see if I get upgraded…but I’ll also want to check-in 24 hours in advance to get the best seat if not upgraded. Jeez…sounds a bit like SouthWest. Will Delta just start doing a cattle call when boarding next? Not a happy 300K + Platinum member.
