From the Delta Image Archives, here’s a photo of Suzanne, the first baby born on a Delta flight (in 1959). Mrs. Hugh Ector, with the assistance of a flight attendant, gave birth to the 8 lb., 4 oz. girl, while in mid-flight over Malden, Missouri, at 9,000 feet. Flight attendant uniform wings were used as diaper pins.
Mother and baby are shown with Delta personnel about to board their flight home. You can also see gifts from Delta: an orchid corsage, miniature flight bag and a flight attendant hat.

I guess this is a pretty old thread but it is new to me. My parents just sent me this link so I decided to reply. I was that baby you see in the photo. I’m pretty sure I still have those diaper pins, among other things. I’m not a PM with a million miles. I’m not sure what PM stands for but a million miles would be nice
My parents are still together and doing well.

Suzanne: So nice to hear from you. Glad to know you and your parents are doing well! Do you have a copy of this photo? If not, we would like to present you with one. We also are planning to include this photo in an upcoming exhibit for Delta’s 80th anniversary in June, and I would love to ask you few questions related to that. My e-mail or phone: 404-714-2371.
Look forward to speaking with you further,
