I really love the idea that we now will be able to enjoy service throughout Asia and the Midwest with the newly-acquired routes from NW. I was never a big fan of NW and would consider flying them only as a last resort, one question, though - What’s gonna happen with all the Airbus metal they have in addition to the 744s? Would be awesome to see a big ol’ widget on the tail of an Ex-NW 744!!! But not so sure about the Airbus metal though… Weren’t we consolidating our fleet? NW is all over the map… Including those awful DC-9s… Powerback anyone?

How about a new corporate name like DELTAWEST!!!

Nothing can stop the NEW DELTA. This will truly be the premier global airline of choice. Welcome to the new global Delta.

I think your next “Change” slogan/them should be. “Change is: Welcome to the family.” While it is kind of corny, its humor fits in with the new ad/marketing scheme, and it will let the new NWA passengers know that they are welcome.
I didn’t know who to direct this towards, so I just figured it could go here.

“The world biggest airline”… Hmmm…
I think the task ahead is pretty formidable. The NWA fleet is old and tired. Their network might be complimentary (which is great!) but it does not start in Atlanta. And on certain routes there will now be less competition which is never a good idea.
I am glad Delta will remain Delta. There is still a lot of room for improvement but at least you are making efforts and we (the FF) notice. You even make us part of your journey of change (like with this blog) which is an excellent and precendent setting activity.
So I guess I am sitting on the fence. A good outcome would be that NWA dissolves into Delta, with equal standards of quality and service. Bad outcome would be that Delta’s efforts are slowed down or corporately damaged by absorbing tired NWA. I wish you good speed, and count on all of you (with help and support from all of us) that the outcome is remeniscent of the first option and not the second.

vinycard - Thanks, we’re pretty excited too! It will take months before we’re ready to integrate our fleets and make those decisions, but I agree that a widget would look pretty great on those 744s! As Geoffrey and Chris referenced in the comments of Remaking (Part 2), we are currently focusing on providing our passengers with consistent livery throughout our own fleet first. Keep in mind it does take time (literally) for paint to dry and our metal will be staying busy flying this Summer… Stay tuned!
elchamp - Love your creativity, but your question begs another: What’s so wrong with our name ‘Delta’?
SLCFlyingD - Thank you for the compliment. We’re working hard, so it is great to hear your feedback that we are moving in the right direction.
boiler11 - Thank you for the suggestion. We are looking forward to welcoming our NWA passengers and employees to the Delta family in the coming weeks and months. Keep the suggestions coming!
malbarda - You are very correct that our task ahead will be formidable. As C.E. Woolman, our founder and first CEO once said, “The only monotonous thing about the aviation industry is the constant change.” We feel Northwest is an ideal choice for us because it is an industry leader in key complementary international markets with employees who are committed to helping us win in the global marketplace. I encourage you to continue to keep us honest by voicing your concerns for improvement. Thank you for your good wishes and please know that we appreciate and count on your support as well!

Since I fly primarily from DTW, this is going to be a win-win situation. I’m so happy that two great airlines are going to come together to be one! One thing though… I hope you name DTW the Delta WorldGateway at Detroit because Northwest calls it the Northwest WorldGateway at Detroit (i’m sure Richard wouldn’t mind since he opened the terminal). I just cannot wait to see a 747 in the Delta widget livery!!!!
