Hartelijk Welkom in Amsterdam Dames en Heren (“Welcome to Amsterdam Ladies and Gentlemen!“)
As a flight attendant with family ties to The Netherlands, it’s often you’ll find me walking and biking around the incredible city of Amsterdam. And while anyone can tell you stories about the famous wooden shoes, old world windmills, delicious Old Amsterdam cheeses and Dutch charm, I’d like to share a few of my off the beaten path favorites to eat, try, and enjoy during your next trip.
My favorite time to visit is during the spring, the prettiest time of year to explore Amsterdam and the town of Lisse, a short distance away. Here you’ll find my all-time favorite site, the world famous Keukenhof Gardens, which boasts beautiful tulips and bulb flower gardens. Peak bloom time is from mid-to-late April.
Have you visited Amsterdam? Share your experience and favorite tips in the comments below OR ask me questions about getting around in the city!
Tot ziens!

P.S. Just saw that flights to Amsterdam are on sale until March 11. To avoid missing this year’s blooms book a flight soon! And remember to watch out for the bikes!

I was fortunate enough to go to the Netherlands in May 2006. Most of my time was in Utrecht and I loved it. I have photos of the trip on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/orangejack/sets/72057594120799673/
I was also fortunate to be there on Queen’s Day (I think that’s what it’s called). Everyone wore orange, flew orange flags, and drank some orange liquor (I had mine early morning when I checked into my hotel — they insisted).
Great place.

What a great, informative video with a great host!
I will be sure to check out the pancake house the next time I am in Amsterdam.
One thing that you don’t want to miss is Casino Amsterdam. It’s a great place to get a little touch of Vegas right in downtown Amsterdam.
