I am pretty sure that when you think about going on vacation you wouldn’t pick the state of Oregon as a top 30 destination. I am from southern Oregon, currently living in Atlanta and recently went home to visit my family and show my “southern belle” girlfriend what Oregon has to offer.
Oregon has something to offer almost everyone. Hiking in the mountains, white water rafting, a beautiful coastline (although the water is a little chilly), some of the best golf courses in the country and many other great features.
My all-time favorite place to go in Oregon is Crater Lake. It is the deepest lake in North America and 30 miles from where I grew up; in Klamath Falls. If you catch it on a beautiful sunny day, the water turns an amazing blue!
Oh and did I mention that Oregon is also home to the two-time defending National College Baseball Champions, the Oregon State Beavers (where I went to college).
So as far as I’m concerned Oregon hasn’t gone anywhere and is alive and well. So next time you’re thinking about places to go on vacation, think about Oregon and all it has to offer. Delta and Delta Connection SkyWest offer flights to every part of Oregon. We offer service into Portland, Salem, Redmond, Eugene and Medford.

So, “Happy Traveling” and be sure to let me know if you need any tips or have any questions about your next vacation to Oregon. Go Beavers!

Nice pics and who says that Montana is God’s country? Oregon looks like a place where one can escape to and remember, Oregon rymes with Michigan for proper pronounciation (that was a freebie.)

Zach: You should be proud of your home state. Oregon is beautiful! In fact, the staff of Delta Sky agrees, which is why we featured the state’s incredible coastline in the September issue! (See http://delta-sky.com/2007_09/postcards/)

TriStar_Fan: Thanks for the comments about my home state. It truly is a beautiful place to escape for almost anything. The picture of me by the waterfall is Multnomah Falls, which is about 30 miles or so east of Portland, along the Columbia River. Definitely a must see if going to Portland. The picture of my girlfriend Melissa and I was taken at Crater Lake. LOVE IT! The last picture is on a fishing trip. The mountain is Mt. McLoughlin which offers some good hiking during the summer. I don’t know if you could make it out or not, but there was a bald eagle watching over us, and the fish we caught.
SkyMagEditor: I really enjoyed the piece on the Oregon coast. Couldn’t be more true! The picture of Haystack rock was a great way to represent it. My family and I used to go to Cannon Beach during the summer and camp. Brought back some great memories. Thanks for doing the article.

Shame on you Zach! As a fellow native Oregonian you should know better than to promote our great state. We should follow the hallowed words of former Governor Tom McCall “Come visit us again and again. This is a state of excitement. But for heaven’s sake, don’t move here to live.”

I visited Crater Lake National Park four years ago this month after a business trip to Klamath Falls and took a picture from the very same spot as the 2nd photo!
I was awestruck by the beauty of that lake. It is one of the hidden gems of the National Park Service. One day, I’d like to go back….

Thanks all for looking at the great beauty Oregon has to offer. It really is a great place. And for those of you that have been there, you know what I’m talking about.
Sorry, I haven’t been heard from in a while. I was in Edinburgh, Scotland. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed it there. I am planning on posting some pictures from that trip. I highly recommend going there!

leighco: So I have been thinking about some places that you might enjoy while you are there, as long as it is ok with mbbaker.
A great place to go is the Sunriver Resort. It is very close to Bend, Oregon. (We can get you there by flying into Redmond, Oregon.) They have golf, horseback riding, white water rafting down the Deschutes River, skiing in the winter and many other outdoor activities. http://www.sunriver-resort.com
On the same trip I went to Mcmenamins-Edgefield. It is a quaint little place that is great for getting away for the weekend. They even brew their own beer and wine. I suggest the Ruby microbrew. Very good! http://www.mcmenamins.com
For people who like to shop and walk around, downtown Portland is great! The Pearl District is the best place. It is clean, safe and as something for everyone. explorethepearl.com
